Hi All,

Here are some photos:
http://s1021.photobucket.com/user/mothey/slideshow/P-Bass%2060th

I'm not sure if it's a real 2006 USA P-Bass 60th anniversary.
There is no 60th logo engraved in the neck plate.

Upgraded with Seymour Ducan quarter pound pickups.
Fender hard case.

I would appreciate your opinions on the authenticity of this P-bass.

Thank you very much.

This is likely a real 2006 Fender American Standard P-Bass. It is NOT repeating NOT the limited commemorative 1 of 1000 model with the engraved neckplate.

All 2006 Fender instruments, even the Mexican made ones got the 60th anniversary coin inset on the back of the headstock. Only 1000 of each of the main USA models, Strat, Tele, P-Bass and Jazz were specially badged as commemorative models with the special numbered neckplate, a diamond inset on the front peghead area of the headstock, coin inset on back of headstock and a special Diamond Anniversary platinum colored G&G case with special commemorative embossed lid lining. These instruments stand out and are amazingly easy to spot and most of them are in vaults or lovingly played by very conscientious owners cognizant of their value potential since they are highly collectible. The Mexican made versions were not as limited but still pretty dang nice and I'd like to have one of both.

Anyone selling ANY 2006 Fender tends to call it a "60th Anniversary" or "Diamond Anniversary" model because they all have the medallion inset on the back of the headstock. Yes it is a 2006 model and that was the 60th Anniversary-Diamond Anniversary year. However the truth is that it is just a standard production instrument made in 2006 and is no more valuable than any other 2006 Fender standard mass production copy of the same model. They all have that inset on the back of the headstock, even the Mexican ones. 2006 was a good year, but so was 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2012 for that matter so the 2006 standard production instruments have no special significance or added value to me.

So far as I know all the limited commemorative instruments were finished Blizzard Pearl, which at that time was only being used the limited "1 of 1000" commemorative models but in years since then Blizzard Pearl has worked it's way into becoming a color option on other Fender instruments.

Worse still, the one in the photos isn't factory original. It has had a pickup change, which is almost always ill advised on any USA Fender. The USA pickups are spectacular. The one ripped out could actually have been wound by Abigail Ybarra. I bought a FSR Fiesta Red Fender Strat (1 of 150) with Texas Specials and it turned out they were wound by her. That particular copy is the best Strat I've ever heard or played. She is the GODDESS OF TONE and her bass pickups also remain without rival.

If you are considering buying this one, it is worth what any other PLAYER CLASS 2006 USA Standard P-Bass is worth because it is not original and has been modified. I personally would pass on it, but if I really wanted it I'd not pay nearly as much for this one as I would for an all original one.
