Are there any, current-production P-Basses being made in Japan?

Quite a few actually, but some are CIJ (Crafted in Japan) rather than MIJ (Made in Japan). Not that I see much difference, but yeah.

Production models which are available to most that come to mind include:

Steve Harris P-Bass
Sting P-Bass
Classic 70s P-Bass (read it was moved to Mexico recently, could be wrong. Unreliable source)

I think that's about it in terms of P-Basses. You can find a used '51RI P-Bass, which was made in Japan before being discontinued and I know that there are Jazz, Jaguar and Mustang basses that are made in Japan as well.

There's all of these, but you'll probably be able to only get them over there, for the most part. http://www.fenderjapan.co.jp/products_p ... nbass.html

One way of getting your hands on the stuff from the Fender Japan website is through eBay. I constantly find more $@!& there, new and used, on a daily basis.

No, I still haven't bought anything brand new, so don't ask. :P

They've had all kinds of stuff that I wished they'd sell in the US, but it seems you only get scraps here and there.

Yes the Sting Bass is a very nice instrument........ I wonder in in about 10 - 15 yrs from now will CIJ & MIJ Fender's be worth more ...especially CIJ & MIJ models that have had their production moved to Mexico .. not that Mexico isn't doing a fine job because I think they are.
