Charleston is hot like that too. The only thing saving you down there is the breeze on the beach AND that's where I plan to be here shortly. The big Flea market down there is a real burner too. I'm still going though. :D

Yeah I lived there for almost 7 years. Thought since I was moving north it would be cooler. Wrong. It depends on where you are in Charleston. The Battery area usually has a breeze.

We just got back from Kiawah Island. The weather was great. At 6 PM the temp would start dropping. That made for good dinner trips. I could live down there.

I have found over the years, since first starting bass in 1963, that if preventive maintenance is done diligently, there isn't much of a need for backup gear. Sure, there will be occasional issues that were unforseen and in those cases, it's probably a good idea to have a few things on hand for quick repairs. An extra set of strings, a couple extra cables, an extra IEC power cord and perhaps an extra axe in a hardshell case. But, with proper pre-show maintenance and inspections, things usually hold together. I have never had an on-stage failure of any personally owned equipment during a gig - and after 50 years of doing this, I pretty much know how to take care of equipment so there are no surprises.

To paraphrase a line from the movie 'Blazing Saddles' -

"Backup gear? We don't need no stinking backup gear." :)

The "badges" line was first filmed in "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre." It actually originated in a book. It has been ripped off since by "Blazing Saddles" and even in a "The Monkees" TV episode. Weird Al Yankovic's movie "UHF" changed it to "We don't need no stinkin' badgers."

WOW-- I know if I said that the first thing that would happen at the next gig would be my bass exploding and my amp melting. !!!! But that's just my luck. :D

NAH - Your equipment would be just fine....... but the lead guitarist's Gibson neck would split at the nut, the drummer's Slingerland top hat would pop all the rivets, the keyboardist's Roland would loose action in half the keys and the audio tech would get his beard caught in a canon plug and start his brain on fire.

But no worries... you're safe !!

I guess all my stuff backs up each other as I have more than one guitar, amp, tuner, cable, etc...
(I have 4 distortion pedals)
Although I do only have one bass.

Hey Zontar... Do you know Zarnak? Anyway only one bass. I did that for a very long time and I can see where one can get by with one bass no problem. The first time I broke a string I handled it and just played the notes on a different string. There's always that. I broke my Ampeg and that was a different story. It's hard to have a back up SVT.

It looks like everyone carries back up stuff of some sort. I wouldn't think anything less of bass players. I've played with guitarists that carry absolute zero. In fact the last pickup gig I did- niether of the two guitar players had a guitar case or any extra anything. It's a wonder .

I like skabetti also as well. I know that sometimes all you need is an aluminum cornbread pan as backup. IF I remember right I gave you guys all the pans I had some time ago. You should be set to handle any sitchitation should the need arise. :)

I just had Stuffed Pepper Soup with homemade cornbread, baked in that exact pan you mentioned! Now I'm gonna have a Yuengling, or two. Er, probably two. Yeah! Two!
