Well up to this point it seems th Fender Marketing Wizards were on the money not to offer SWIRL basses since there is little interest and lots of people who flat out think it is ugly.

+1

Swirl paintjobs are by far more popular among guitarists than bassists.

Even Ibanez doesn't make swirly basses for the same reason as Fender's.

They look ok, if like them. Not for me though.

It could be because people are conformist and like it safe and boring, too. That's why groups like the Eagles and Bon Jovi still have large careers. :P

I still like it. But my guess is it wouldn't be an investment, even if I could live another 25 years. Odd mixes, heck, even sunburst, seldom brings as much as a solid color. Maybe in 25 years that will reverse itself.

Still, I think I would buy one.

Well, remember all the hue and cry for the Antigua finished basses? Fender brought them back and I still haven't seen a new one in a band or in use in my AO.

Throw some metallic sparkly flakes, or prism chips in the paint, and Wowzers!! Prism chip will make you ask... " Is that blue? No wait, it's teal. Purple? Yup, add some prism chips too the paint!

LSD & Tie Dye on an electric guitar body. Why not basses? It's art.
