Im a huge Fender fan and my first bass purchased by my mother meant a lot but it was an Ibanez....but i fixed that with a new neck some quarter pounders a fender bridge and fender pots also changed it to a Natural finish since a 74 natural p-bass is my favorite

As I look at the bridge saddles...............I notice that the bass may need a little bit of setting up/intonation. I bet it sounds good either way but maybe not quite in tune all over the neck. Ibanez basses usually have a good sound. I like the finish. If you wrap the strings a couple more times around the barrels - that would be good for it too. Just sayin'..

Stroker - I noticed the same thing.

Tamey: Please look over the info in the website below. It will walk you through a basic intonation setup. It isn't difficult, just a little time consuming...

Any guitar luthier or technician can get the intonation closer than the average owner, so that might be an option for you as well. Please let us know how things turn out and best of luck with the procedure.

I knew someone was gonna say that lol this picture was taken shortly after i put the bridge and strings on i actually still have to solder the pickups so i can intonate it with my tuner as far as strings i was told to cut them the length of 2 tuning pegs away

That is a cool bass. Talk about simple, plug me in, turn me up, play. Has that "I've been around" look, too.

Any don't worry about mom's Ibanez, I have two and, like you, the first one was a gift to get me back into playing. Not a Fender, but still a good player.

I go with at least 3 wraps around the barrels or more as long as the string on the barrel doesn't overlap the other windings, The ultimate is to get enough wraps for the barrel to be covered right down to almost the bottom of the barrel ( no pun intended?) then there is a nice angle down on the string from the nut to the barrel. I like looking at that on my bass. And yes I know the string retainer provides a good downward angle from the nut but I still like seeing the wraps. Has anyone ever seen BB Kings windings on the barrels? They look like mine when I was 10. HA!!! That's no cut on BB by any means. He's the man. 8)

It's an Ibanez GSR100 body with a Fender Precision neck fitted and a reversed Basslines SPB3 split pickup with a single master volume a la Mark Hoppus. :P

Though the neck & head are obviously Fender,...The body of this bass kinda reminds me of The Gibson Grabber Bass (sorta kinda).....made popular by Gene Simmons in 1974-75 early Kiss years,.....I wanted one of those back in the day... :)
Gibson has recently re-issued this bass

Stripping the body and changing the pickup I understand. Putting a Fender neck and bridge on an Ibanez I do not. IMO those are both steps backward. On the up side you certainly have a unique guitar.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I'd say it was pretty well done. It is unique and it looks good. If it plays good, I'd keep it. It is always good to have one that nobody else can ever have.

Nice! Due to the placement of the pick up coils I can assure you will get a sound closer to a '51 P bass. You can fabricate a 51-like pickguard and maybe use a control plate as well to complete the look!
