I tried a Sea Green at a local GC to day. A beautiful great playing bass. A very well put together bass also.

I picked up a Black/Tort one of these about 2 months ago. . . AND I LOVE IT . Great feel to the neck, The body is everything a P-Bass body should be. My only small small issue is the noiseless Jazz pickup . . .I just feel like the output could be a bit hotter , I just roll it back about 1/8th a turn and get a great growl out of the P Pickup. . . Over all I think this is an amazing bass and 1 that will be in my collection for ever, The PJ Pick up is my favorite set up and who would not want a Black/Tort P-Bass? Dont let the MIM tag fool you they did a great job with this one. If you are lucky enough to find one of these PICK IT UP

How did I not see this thread before? I have to echo all the above positive statements. I tried one at our nearest GC back in the winter. It was an excellent bass. It would have made a great match for my Oly White Classic 70's P, but I can't get along with the small J neck. The neck on it just like on my 70's was beautifully solid, and smooth. The BAII is an awesome off the hanger upgrade. I thought the bass sung beautifully even with the awful stock rounds. If they had put the Classic 70's P neck on them I would've walked out with one then and there. If p/j hybrids are your thing this is definitely a great addition to that tradition. A lot of bass for the money. Congrats to everyone who managed to snap them up!

On the left is 1993 CS Precision... The best Fender I own. On the right is recently acquired FSR Deluxe PJ. I bought the FSR used from GC but it was in pristine condition with plastic still on pick guard. It had some funky colored DR neon strings which I quickly changed. Both are supposedly Sea Form Green. Seems like Fender Sea Foam Green encompass a wide range of shades.

I really like this exact color. The black pups and the black blocks on the maple neck creates a contrast that just walks from Jpup up to the headstock. I noticed this evening that it is called Sea Foam Pearl, and I know a lot of the old pastels had "pearl" added to warm them up in the early and mid 80s. While this bass is not vintage, I think the color took a lesson from 30 years ago.

If they put this on an MIA P or J, I would be on it in a second....I might still, even though MIM is not part of my collection.

It seems more like "Surf Pearl" to me. At least the one I played. It definitely lacked the blue-ish tint of Sea Foam. However, I agree. This bass took a lesson from those basses. It's a very era true style of bass. The P/J really became hugely popular from what I remember in the late 70's and early 80's. Given this bass' relation to the Fender Classic 70's P in terms of looks I really think whomever came up with this did a great job representing this era. It's very late 70's early 80's to me in it's vibe. Great looking, sounding, and playing basses. Plus they don't weigh a ton like the old one's did.

I agree, in fact I mentioned that to Buckeye when we were chatting the other day. Surf Green is my second favorite color ever, right after Daphne Blue. I think both would look great with a little pearl added, and maybe even a little metalflake to give the finish some depth.

But the finish on this one looks really nice to my old eyes, just the way it is.

Hey guys. I just picked up one of the last of two seafoam green models still in stock at Guitar Center. I had to have it shipped from another location and sadly, I big chunk of paint was missing, chipped off of the guitar. All the way to the wood but no visible damage to the wood. I decided to still take it home for what would end up being a significant discount.

My question is this. I know a very good custom guitar guy. For $350 he said he would strip it to the wood, and the paint it with the same color using Nitro. Should I go this route running the risk of completely devaluing this guitar? Perhaps I should just live with the damage? AcGuitar Center tech was kind enough to patch it up so there are no rough edges so the damage won't go any further.

I'm so happy to be part of the Fender family. I've been a drummer for 25 years and have finally decided to learn a new instrument. Any input will be greatly appreciate. :)

Leave it alone, and just enjoy it as is. Over the years to come more dings and scratches will appear it keep it company. Refinishing your bass would be a total waste of time and money.
