Yeah I've always had a weak spot for Surf green too,.....it's a pretty cool color,..... I missed out on getting one that my local music store brought in earlier this year,...... (I ended up buying a 2012 Select Jazz bass that someone had bought at Christmas time & then returned it in early February)........that was still a score for me because I bought it for $1850. because it was now a used bass.. :)
I've also checked out a few online stores & I don't think this bass is not available in North America....
I think tinkering with the paint job on your Squier is a good Idea,.... are you good at painting? ..... I'd bring the body of the Bass to an auto body shop with a paint sample & see what they could do for you,.... & of course another option is if you know someone in your area who's good at painting guitars ......Good Luck & keep us posted. :)

Dude!

Don't confuse Marcus Miller with Reggie Hamilton!

Both basses employ identical electronics but sport different pickups, hardware and cosmetics.

Reggie's Standard Jazz still remains into production, but his custom artist model is no longer made (though it was offered only with rosewood or pau ferro fretboard, there was also a maple neck version which was built exclusively for him).

It always takes me back to the 60's when I see that color on a guitar or bass. Don't really know why, but must have seen someone playing one that color back then and was impressed by them. I was young and just starting my musical pursuit. In '65 I turned 11 and that's when I got my first guitar.
Using an auto paint shop is an idea that I've heard of before and may try that. I would probably have them paint the heastock too.

Check this out....I found this pic on another form where a guy did this to his VM V. I also like the white pearl pg and surf green tug bar he added, but I wouldn't add the pup cover.

My apologies there King of Bass & Bass Information,.....I was rushing & getting ready for work while listening to a Marcus Miller CD when I was replying to grho50 .... it's called human error ..... lighten up.. DUDE!!

I'm also aware that the Custom Shop Reggie Hamilton bass is no longer in production as of this year & only the MIM version is still in production ......I have no idea why you felt you had to include this bit of information in your last post as I was not even talking about the Custom Shop version of the Reggie Hamilton Bass because it's no longer available......JEEZ!!

Good Photo & Good Idea with regard to painting the had stock,....... If you paint the head stock I suggest you paint around the logo & model description on the Head stock ......I've seen this done recently on some Custom shop basses & it looked pretty cool..

Speaking of Reggie Hamilton I've found a photo of him on an old magazine cradling a Purple Transparent American Deluxe Jazz Bass V.

Image

I suppose the shot was taken circa 1998/99, many years before his namesake signature bass came into surface.

By not answering these questions you're pretty much saying it's not available ......what a waist of time..

Good question Oxfan,.......I know that many have pondered this question oh so often with out coming up with a satisfactory answer ........ Well my friend I'm gonna blow this mystery wide open by saying ...... No. Unfortunately not my friend (sad but true) there's no other way to spell Cantelope .......the only other way you could possibly spell Cantelope would be to spell it in a different language...

So what you're saying, cantelope can be spelled differently. I wonder how they spell cantelope in Greece. How do you spell cantelope in Canada? I bet they spell cantelope differently in Oklahoma, get grh50 non this discussion.
Gary? are you there?
