I used to enjoy Columbian Coffee & Cocain. Now I just enjoy the coffee.

I'm waiting to listen to it on good speakers! Haven't seen much footage of Duck Dunn with Eric Clapton - just a couple of tunes from Live Aid... What a great combo!

Duck played with Clapton quite a bit over the years. He, and Steve Cropper, played with him at the Bob Dylan tribute concert on "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright", IMO Clapton always played better when he had great musicians with him. Needless to say, when he had Duck, he soared.

+100!

Eric's best band lineup was in the late 1980s/early 1990s, date during which he was at the peak of his powers: Nathan East, Mark Knopfler, Greg Phillinganes, Phil Palmer, Phil Collins, Chuck Leavell, Andy Fairweather-Low, Ray Cooper, Alan Clark and Steve Ferrone.

Definitely the most successful period of his carreer after the Cream era in the 1960s.

always liked the earlier stuff and lineups better, Carl Radle, great player, as for EC , lasted up till behind the sun, it was pop blues after that for a long time. imho.

I just spent some quality time with DDD over the years through you tube videos and written tributes. Alas, it was cocktail hour not coffee, but still a blast. Thanks for getting me thinking about him.

Steve

Finally listened on my "good" speakers - bass sounds great! Perfect P-Bass sound.

I'll give a +1 on the greatness of Carl Radle, though I think my favorite "Clapton bassist" is still Jack Bruce!

There's a good bunch of P-Bass players who worked and toured with EC: Carle Radle, Donald Duck Dunn, Roger Waters, Pino Paladino, Sting, Dave Bronze and Willie Weeks.

Carl Radle switched to Music Man basses in 1976.

Clapton has changed playing styles often, but always seems to have the right bassist for the job. I guess when you are Clapton, you can do that. Nathan East is really mellow, and perfectly complementary, just as Bruce was for Cream, and DDD in transition. I keep waiting for my turn with Eric......but the phone has not rung.

Just my luck, he called last week and I missed the call! Damn it! :D

Just wanted to comment on Carl again, he was an awesome player. he never got the press that the others did, but for his contributions, he was spot on.

Listen to the Layla album. that bunch made Eric so much better.
