In the webstore of a German dealer I found this:

I would love to see some pictures of these beauties.

Nice, but the walnut is very visually jarring. I don't know if I could get used to not having the maple...

This Walnut Neck '51 is a nice twist on a classic design. :P

Mike Dirnt would be proud.

First thing I'd want to know is what type of walnut it is. Walnut weights and densities vary all over the place. Whatever the type of walnut this is, what would that neck do to the typical C# dead spot -- leave it where it is, move it toward the 12th fret, or move it toward the nut? And if move it, where to exactly, and would that location change how I need to play the music I'm called to play. In the same vein, would a weight/density departure from maple add a dead spot somewhere else on the neck, i.e. a second one, a dead spot we don't normally see on bolt-on-neck basses.

And what about tone changes relative to a mass-produced Precision? Would it sound thinner? Fatter? More hi-fi (less mids)? More mid-punchy (less low bass and less treble)?

As a collector piece, none of this matters. But if the intent is to put the thing into service, I'd say caution is warranted.
