I just recently bought my first P Bass. She's a beaut. Ash body with a clear finish and a brown tortoise shell pick guard. I have been unable to find any info on that particular model other than a sticker on the back of the headstock that says "special edition". I was unaware that Standard MIM had any special editions. If anybody has any insight into this it would be greatly appreciated. Man does she sound great though I couldn't be happier. Hope to get some info. Peace.

FSR= Factory Special Run, which I think they get the "special edition" sticker.

My old lady has a FSR strat and it has a special edition tag on it.

FSR. Interesting. It def. looks a lot like that. Anyone know what prompts an FSR? just curious I guess. Thanks D for your help.

No problem, actually that might have been a good question for Andy Rossi (Senior VP of Global Sales and Marketing) when he swung in the other afternoon.

You might post it in the thread in the lounge forum and maybe he'll see it, or maybe Brad'll tip him off.

Hey,

I own one just like yours. it really bothered me that I couldn't find another one like it anywhere, in stores or on line. The I got the bright idea to call Fender, seems we own one of 250 made in a special run for Guitar Center. For those of you that haven't seen one up close, they're awesome, finish on body (clear) and neck is just like the more expensive models, it has the tortise pickguard. The body is ash. Only iffy things for me are the tuners and bridge, I'll probably upgrade.

I bought a pickup cover and a bridge from Musicians Friend, to complete the look. Hope you enjoy your bass half as much as I do.

Ron
