I played a Cabronita (the burst one, if it matters) about a month back at the guitar shop. The only issue I had with it was the bright sound. Just not my thing. To me, it didn't sound like a P bass at all, and in my opinion that ain't good for a P bass. It also sounded NOTHING like the bass in the Fender demo clip (I was also playing it through a Fender Rumble 2x10). It sounded more like one of those $200 Epiphone Tobias models they have at Guitar Center. Way too bright, way too... I don't know, almost tinny, if that helps.

The bass felt good, I loved the big, heavy neck. I even loved the look of the pick guard and I would probably leave it right where it is, were I to buy that bass.

In short, I loved everything about it, except the sound - which is why I didn't buy it. Instead, I bought a used MIA P with a BAII bridge, SeyDunc pup and a bone nut for $500. If it hadn't been for that MIA P bass, I'd have been heartbroken over the Cabronita, 'cause I really wanted one until I heard it.

oxfan's #1 rule! Play them all if you can, the right one will let you know it's supposed to come home with you!

Yo got a great deal. I have SPB-3-s on my Precision, they are great.

Enjoy!

Everything I am hearing about the Carbonita has moved it off my wish list....maybe I am safe from GAS for another day?

Safe? Safe you say?      You'll never be safe as long as you're hanging around here with all your good "friends" who keep throwing pretty things in front of you, making you want to by more and more and more!

Another day indeed affprod.
I'm afraid that GAS is a lifelong illness. Aquiring a new guitar is merely placing a bandaid on a symptom and only provides temporary relief.

oxfan.......Who are these so called "friends"? Shame on them for feeding your cravings.

Hey did anyone see the new Modern Player Dimension Bass?? & The Marcus Miller Jazz 5 has an amazing neck Marcus & Fender worked on this bass together & went through several proto types with different Bridge & pick up types & Marcus wanted a 5 string neck that played close to a 4 string with regard to string spacing according to Marcus. I've played this bass & I gotta tell ya they did an amazing job!!......DOHH!! Resistance is Futile.
