i agree it probably wont have any detectable audible difference, but cosmetically .........
im left thinking the bridge and pickup are made independently to generic dimensions, without enough pre-manufacturing discussion ,including the placement of the pickup in the body, which will effect how the string spacing ends up .

In terms of polepiece/string alignment, check out the Sweetwater pics of the Squier version. I'd love to get my mitts on one of those to see if *those* E and G strings are weak.

Now look at a Sweetwater pic of the Fender version. It looks like the alignment is worse than the burst in this thread and the one I have. It's almost Squier-like. From what I can see of where the strings are in the slots, that doesn't account for it. And the bridge looks the same as the one on mine.

Chrisan2: Yeah, moving the pickup further north would fix things alignment-wise, but then you've got a bass that by default will sound loose and dubby (almost 51-like I'd guess) unless it's in the hands of a really tight player. My guess is the factory let ear trump ruler. In the case of my Cabronita, they nailed it.
