Anyone play or buy a Cabronita P-Bass yet? Can you detail likes, dislikes and any other feedback please? Particularly interested in the tonal character of the pickup. There isn't one around here yet to try out. It is appealing to me because of the first generation influence and the slab body. But sort of a tough call to order up one. I normally play basses before buying. Also looks like AFFPROD has another bass to buy too to keep his collection of everything Fender ever made with 4 strings up to date!

I've been dying to try one. I really dig the way they look, and like you love the design for the slab and styling. I was impressed with the demo video. It's on Youtube to give you an idea of the sound it's capable of. Seems good for jam bandish stuff with the EQ they were going for, but as always strings and attack will change that.

I'd opt for the Candy Apple and try to get a b/w/b guard made. Kind of wish I still had my 51RI P and could add this to the collection. However, given the work I'm doing right now my split coils were definitely the right choice. As always. I wish I had the cash to own them all.

Has to be the cleanest looking bass to come out in years. Profoundly simple and very easy on the eyes. Can't wait to try one and see if the tone and playability live up to the packaging.

Lol, Brother Dave. Ya never know.

This will probably be the next investment I make. Hopefully if I do get it, I'll write up a review.

Fender has them going for $799. ...so I'm guessing street price will be around $600.

Yeah I've figured out a while ago that if Fender lists a Bass or Amp at $700 or $800. the street price will $200 less,......... if a Bass is listed at $1199. the street price will usually be $950. or $250. less. a Bass that's listed here at $1699. will sell on the street for $1299 to $1350.
Higher priced items like the Select Jazz Bass is listed here at $3199. & it sells on the street for $2300. ( that's a gross $900. mark up on the Fender website)
in other words the higher the price is on the website,....the more discounted the street price will be ....in most cases... :)

If I were right-handed, I would buy one. Actually I just might pull a Jimi Hendrix on this and toss it upside down! Take it to a good shop and say "make it a lefty, boys". :D

Really like the bridge on this. Hope to see it on some other models, like the MIM Standards.

I really like the Bridge on this bass too,(it was one of the first things that caught my eye)......dare I say it looks like Fender's version of the Badass II,........ All in All there's a lot to like about the Cabronita,...... I'd like to try one out. If i were to pull the trigger & get a Cabronita it would probably be the two tone Sunburst,.......Black would be my 2nd choice..... :)

The MIM Cabronita P-Bass is a non-reliced version of the Porrazo Relic Precision which was discontinued a couple of years ago.

OK. Not many people could afford a $5,200 bass and since the Porrazo was a Custom Shop Limited Edition they didn't have one at the local Fender dealer here.

They may look similar on a computer screen, which is about the closest I'll get to the Porrazo, but there are obviously many differences beyond the relic treatment. Porrazo is ASH, the Cabronita is ALDER. Porrazo has a 7.25" radius 1951 U-Shaped neck, the Cabronita has a "C" shape 9.5" radius neck. The Porrazo has a Grease-Bucket tone circuit the Cabronia doesn't. Porrazo has a T.V. Jones "Thunder'Tron" pickup, the Cabronita has a "Fideli'Tron" which isn't quite the same thing but looks the same. The bridges are way different. The Porrazo is NITRO finished, the Cabronita is POLY finished. Still I don't know if that is $4,200 worth of difference.

My main concern with the Cabronita P-Bass is that there have been more than one reviewer on the Musicians Friend website writing about a bridge alignment issue on the FSR MIM Cabronita Telecaster bridge. According to multiple writers the bridge spacing is too wide for the neck. Want to know if it is also a problem on the Cabronita P-Bass. I can't find any reviews of the Cabronita P-Bass yet. But the bridge alignment issue on the FSR Cabronita Telecaster has me pretty spooked. I like the look of the bass bridge, but till I hear from someone reliable that the bass is OK I'm on hold.

I agree Dave there are obvious differences between the Cabronita P-Bass & the Porrazo,.......I'm gonna have to make a trip to Long & McQuade to see if they've recieved any yet,......hopefully the current bridge spacing issue is only with the Cabronita Telecasters..
