Upgraded the Pickguard. I think it looks better this way.

congrats nice looking bass,

I also just picked up a new 2011 Am Standard P-Bass.

I seen it last year hanging on the wall at the music store for $1249.
Last Sat I went visiting. & they still had it, they said if I want I can have it for $999.
Being a lefty I knew this was meant to be as lefty's don't hang around very long!
It's the colour I wanted too! Nice 60th ann. stamped on the neck plate...

Is Roger Waters who inspired you to put a black pickguard?

Image

If you kept the stock white guard and put ashtray covers, your bass would resemble to Roger's warhorse in its original form! :)

Very nice bass(es). Something special about the MIAs. It's like they come with some special mojo built right in.

You are right brother dave! in this case for me I'm convinced Duck Dunn, Bob Babbitt & James Jamerson were looking down on the bass & me, as I mentioned earlier, I seen this bass last year in the store & last week it was still there.
My wife said it was meant to be otherwise it would have been sold along time ago.
Sunburst lefties (sorry! I mean sunburst backwards basses are hard to find much less being a precision)!

I'm 63 and still love the 3 colour sunburst precision with the tort pickguard the most.
I'm going to look around for a chrome bridge & pup cover as well as a thumb rest & she'll
look as beauty as a 57 Chevy (maybe Munster's coach!!) :D

In December , I picked up a 2004-5 American Std. Precision. Still had the tags, PG plastic and stickers on it.

ee

If you are a Jamerson-Babbitt and Dunn devotee then sunburst and tortoise is the channel to their force. Dunn had a sunburst, but played several different ones.

Man...if watching Duck on the Blues Brothers film doesn't make you want to run out and buy a P-Bass...

There's always been this deep feeling inside that just urges me to get a good cigar and play my Fender Precision along to some Motown, or Stax stuff.
