SORRY no southpaw AVS basses :|

If you want one you'll need to place a custom shop inquiry.

Unfortunately Fender only offer's the Mexican made Standard P - bass & Jazz bass & the American Standard P Bass & Jazz bass in Left Hand models...... Try finding an older left hand P Bass or Jazz bass on Ebay ....that way you could find a left hand real deal vintage Fender Bass.
I think Fender doesn't offer many models in Left hand versions because it's a supply & demand issue........ oddly enough I'm left handed but learned to play right handed.......right handed models seemed more comfortable to me when I was learning .... & also there were hardly many left handed models on the market when I was learning to play in the late 70's.

You could also try G&L Basses
http://www.glguitars.com/instruments/Tr ... ex_new.asp
or the Sterlingray34 line of basses by Music Man
http://www.sterlingbymusicman.com/ray34

In the end though you many want to go the used Bass route if you're looking for an older left handed P or J style bass.

Good Luck :)

Good first post DrumNBass. I'm a lefty that also plays lefty. I bought a left-handed Fender Precision brand new in 1976, and just bought a 2012 American Standard Jazz. I have to tell you that the build quality/craftsmanship in the new 2012 is leaps and bounds above what I saw coming from Fender in the 70's. The Custom Shop p'ups on the American Standards are quite simply killer. I also like the modern neck radius better than the vintage. The HMV bridge is better as are the machineheads. So I wouldn't shed too many tears. Fender's Amercian Standards are a lefty's best friend!

No lefty p bass from Mexico either,

I have been looking for 2 yrs for a lefty p bass & last weekend I found a new 2011 USA 60th ann sunburst with t shell pickguard, exactly what I was looking for, not to mention it was $999. compared to $1299. so needless to say I'm a happy camper!!!

I still can't believe Fender won't make a MIM version though?????

They did make a left handed MIM Standard P-Bass until a couple of years ago. It was eliminated in a probable cost cutting move. Switching from right to left handed slows production down a bit, so it was probably a decision for maximum efficiency and productivity. In a perfect world there would be both though, I agree.

thanks for the MIM info "brotherdave" All in all I have to say Fender does the best job for us lefties even as ltd as it is, being 63 I clearly remember swapping basses upside down & re-stringing them, at least those days are over!! For me that is!

I really feel for Southpaw bassists. Seems there are far fewer affordable instruments for leftie bassists than guitarists. If they want a brand new one, they are pretty much locked into a Standard Jazz.

You'll probably choose the Custom Shop route for a southpaw Fender bass, though this solution is pricey and requires lots of money to spend.

Just popped into Sweetwater's website. They have 16 Fender Custom Shop Basses in stock. No Leftys. :( But for $4-5K Fender will make me one! Dreams are good. They keep a man going in the right direction  to Fender's Custom Shop :!:

Gimmie Dem Leftys!
