I know this is fender-world but if you are just starting I would google SX ("Essex" Is better for googling) I don't know who supplies to europe but I would sent a message to marlowe DK on youtube. He has one and he lives in europe.

Fender Precision Bass would be well suited for rock tones since its more boomy and aggressive, whilst jazz gives out a growling yet mellow tone...

depends on what kind of rock sound you're after too..

everyone likes different things so better try one before getting one

The cool thing about the Precision bass is that you can play anything on it and it will always sound good. Even though a less then stellar amp.

the good thing about the precision bass which I love is that thumpy jaw dropping rock tone but not only for rock... Its great for nailing those motown tone and some funky tracks..

as for my favorite jazz it can sound close to a precision with the neck pickup cranked up but its not that boomy though.. similar but not that identical
