Fender has decidedly make elegant designs with a hint of Gretsch flavours, their latest surprise is this beautiful Mexican Cabronita Precision with a single FideliTron humbucker in the middle position and a distinctive yet classy pickguard!

Essentially it's a Porrazo for a budget! :P

That would look so much better without a pickguard.

Yep, gotta second Dalembic there, as soon as I saw that picture of the bass, "that would look great without a guard" theres a little to much going on with one on it, would look really sleek without.

Now that's refreshing. Too bad they missed my favortie cab color combo - see through white blonde with a black guard. But, black with a white guard is still a killer.

Good looking bass!

I like the pickguard, that is what makes the bass special.
Without it, it is just another precision in my opinion.

I like the tobaccoburst one with the black pickguard: http://www.fender.com/series/classic-player/cabronita-precision-bass/?utm_content=sf11606719&utm_medium=spredfast&utm_source=facebook&utm_campaign=Fender-Cabronita-Bass&sf11606719=1

Greatly would prefer to own this one. It is the new 2013 Closet Classic Precision Bass Pro. Retail is $4,600. If I ever rob a bank, this would probably be why.

Fender never did regular post-57 Precisions with 51-style necks.

The 2013 Closet Classic P-Bass Pro is decidedly no brainer. :P

I would prefer seeing this bass with a regular split-coil humbucker.

Well then, I definitely know what my next investment is... That, just might be one of the most gorgeous basses I've seen next to my 51RI.

I love you Chromeyman, but speaking on behalf of all of those (the few, the proud, the insane) to whom the single coil first generation passive P-Bass tone is the tastiest one Leo Fender ever fostered....we will take it just the way it sits.

HUMBUCKERS? HUMBUCKERS? WE DON'T NEED NO STINKIN' HUMBUCKERS!

There are gobs and oodles of split coil humbucking Fender P-Basses but precious few single coil ones. This is the first Fender issue I know about with TWO of the 1st generation single coils arrayed Jazz Bass style. This bass will probably sound like King Kong meets Godzilla while Fred Astaire tap dances on tympanis. With split coils it would have no unique appeal making it just another one of the oodles and gobs.

I have seen several basses set up JUST LIKE this before in the real world. This is not the first one set up like this, but it is the first official Fender factory version I've seen. It is CANDY for the single coil lover's soul....AND.........

MONGO LIKE CANDY!
