I am chuffed to bits as you Brits might say. I ordered a pre-sale ticket direct from http://www.paulmccartney.com/ Cheapest seat was a total of $112.66 and I still have to pay for parking at John Paul Jones arena at UVA in C'ville. June 23rd!

I've never taken a bass lesson - when I first made the switch from guitar to bass, I learned the 1st five Zep albums and a bunch of ZZ Top tunes to play bass with some friends... After that, I took a gig with a Sabbath trib act for awhile, that used to also cover some Metallica songs - I feel that those experiences gave me a pretty solid foundation as a rock bassist...

1. John Entwistle (After hearing Quadrophenia)
2. Geddy Lee.
3 Roger Waters

I like and admire a lot of Bass guitarists but The Ox was the one that inspired me to take up playing the Bass in the first place. It's just a pity that even after all of these years I still cannot play like the man himself.
But I will plod on and hopefully get there someday!

Chris Squire--yes
Been circling back lately to Jim Fielder--BS&T and Big Daddy J Jamerson.

This is a fun old post, so I'll help resurrect it.

As a young lad listening to the cool 60's music, 5 years before I played guitar and 15 years before I played bass,
I liked:
Paul McCartney, but as a singer and songwriter. I thought he was the coolest Beatle.
Also James Jamerson and Duck Dunn because of the records they were on. I had no idea who they were at the time.

Fast forward 50 years:
I still think all those guys are way cool, but I have to add Johnny B Gayden and Willie Weeks to the list, because of their influence on my playing.

It was hard for me to narrow it down to just 3 bass players, but here goes...

1. Bill Wyman
2. Paul McCartney
3. Rick Danko
