Hello everyone. I created this account because i have found my old bass guitar. I want to get some info about it since i didn't find anything useful on my own. It is Squier Precision Bass made in Japan. Serial number is: P000985, when it was made, what is the value. Thank you in advance.

Here is the photo of the head:

Serial indicates made during 1993/1994. This one would probably be from what is called the MIJ series. There were several series. JV, SQ, Pro Tone, Silver Series, CIJ and MIJ. Most Japanese Squier basses are just not as in demand as a MIM or USA FENDER one.

Pretty neat Squier. It is complicated to quote a value. Condition is critical of course, as is originality. There are factors beyond that. Two identical instruments can sell for two very different prices. What a dealer asks and what a private seller can get are two very different figures. Also where you are located, which I don't know in your case, matters a lot. They bring more in Europe and Venezuela for example than in the USA. Even within the USA there are value differences as they bring more in music center cities like New York and Nashville and LA. They bring less in economically depressed areas such as Detroit or Rochester.

I can tell you that here in the central Carolinas, a retail of $450 US isn't unrealistic as a dealer price for a MINT condition one. In a private sale I'd be happy to get $350 for it myself. Where you live in the USA it could be a little more or a little less or about the same.

The Squire JV and SQ series bring way bigger money.

Thank You for great info. The guitar is in 4.5/5 condition. It has few scratches, but nothing that you can see. Only if you look at some angle you can see it. It is black and white guitar, so looks pretty cool. Unfortunately i live in Poland (eastern Europe) but shipping to US would be around 30-45$ so isn't that bad. Now considering if not try to sell it to US. Here the value is around 200$. Anyways thank You for perfect answer. Sorry for any grammar mistakes. Still learning English.
