..........The mystic red kinda has a sparkle when you hold it to the light. I don't think the candy cola had this sort of effect. You can't really tell from the picture, I think that's why it's hard to tell the difference.

Mystic Red (also Mystic Blue) and Candy Cola are metalic finishes. I haven't seen the Mystic Red in person, but from what I can tell in pictures it seems to be a lighter shade of red than the Candy Cola. The Candy Cola on mine can look like a dark maroon at times.

This is the best pic I have that shows the metallic in the Candy Cola.

Judging the picture the candy cola 5-string P has been fitted with a pair of Schaller locking strap buttons. :P

Nice upgrade as the American Standards lack off that feature usually found on the more expensive American Deluxes.

Good eye chromeface.
The strap locks and pearl pg are the only mods I've made. Keeping everything else stock.

You currently use roundwounds in your basses.

Fender sells a 5-string stainless steel flatwound set.

My first Fender bass was a Squier Standard P-Bass in Candy Apple Red. This was about 18 years ago now. I was actually a guitarist, but the band I was in needed a bass player, so I begged my father, who was a bassist, to bring me to the local music shop and buy it for me. It took some serious begging and a lot of chores, but I finally got it! It was a pretty good bass. I enjoyed my time with it. Finally, after I proved myself as a bassist and joined my high school jazz band, my parents helped me buy my first "real" fender. It was a 75' MIJ RI Jazz Bass. Natural finish, block inlays, binding, and rosewood fretboard. I got that one in 1996, and I still have it today. I will never part with that bass. :D

I thought I was the only one that had that particular fantasy. Catch her in a little film called "SHAG" where she is a not bad dancer.
