Several months ago I was in the planning stages of my latest project, and still collecting the parts. I posted here with questions, asking 'if this something would fit that something', etc. The project is finished and up and running.
I already owned a 2004 MIM Jazz neck and wanted to put it on a P bass. I found a 2011 Roger Waters sig P bass body, took them to my luthier friend and let him put it together for me. And I'm pretty well pleased with the outcome. The only regret is that I didn't assemble it myself. I don't fear any of the process except soldering, and I really don't fear that. I just suck at it.
It's still pretty fun to pick out your own custom Fender though!

So.....here it is!

If the photos are huge, I apologize. Still haven't mastered that yet either.

Nice work! Pickguard really looks good with that color body. Good choice!

This bass would be much cooler with a maple fretboard.

A maple fretboard was in my original plans for this project. Basically it would have been like the Roger Waters sig bass, maple, w/black pickguard, but a little fancier.
I wanted a maple board with aged white binding and block inlays, preferably Allparts or something similar, but they're so hard to find. I did see a few, but shied away from the $350 price tag.
I like the current pickguard with this neck, but I still have a black one too in case I want to change the look a bit.
I have a second new toy also. A 2011 American Special Jazz Bass, new off the rack from my buddy's music store. So I basically got two new basses this month.
I'll be posting pics of it in the Jazz Bass forum soon.

I like very much your axe!!! :P

Now it's a good occasion to show us that thumpy baby in action with a couple of YouTube videos.

But the headstock decal is not enough "correct" in my taste.

Since it's a P-Bass the decal should normally show "PRECISION BASS" instead of "JAZZ BASS".

Essentially it's a Precision with an "A" neck profile. :)

Thanks ya'll. I think I'm going to like this one. The neck was on another P bass body before this one and plays nicely with no dead spots, so that makes it a keeper.

Ha ha! Indeed, you are 'correct', but a Jazz neck fits my hands better. I have two Franken Fenders, both with Precision bodies and Jazz necks. I also have a new American Special Jazz Bass. I like the sound of a P bass and the feel of a Jazz neck.

How about a "Precision Special" with an extra Jazz pickup in the bridge?

Not the active version Fender actually produces but the good ol' passive one with the three knob setup and side-mounted jack.

If you're a fond of a top-mounted jack PJ, just drill an extra hole for the neck volume pot.

Will this one do?? It's my first project bass, has recorded two CD's and went to the IBC in Memphis with me. Passive with front mounted jack.

Good looking bass. I would have used a Maple board also, but the Rosewood on it looks good.
