Congrats Split_Pickup!
I really like the B string on mine. Good tension, big, clear sound up and down the neck.
Post some pics of yours when you get the chance.

Yes, I'll have to take some pictures of it.

It is a sweet bass and I love the fact that they made this 5 string with a standard P bass body and a wider neck.

It fits in a standard 4 string P bass case.

I love your candy cola finish on your P5.
I almost got one of those used but I missed out and this one was a bit cheaper.

i gotta take some pictures.

I played a Sunburst at a GC in OKC a day or so after I had placed my order. Beautful bass. Fit and finish was excellent. I didn't plug it in but I thumped on it for a few minutes. Action was low with no fret buzz. Felt each note through the body. Really nice.

Since I didn't hook up through an amp.......does that mean I.....dry thumped the bass???? :D

I have no shame.

...and sorry to hear about your CS J5. My advice is to always buy used.

That's not a bad idea and I know lot's of players do that.
I wanted to buy the CS bass new, kind of make it special. I'm 59 and don't know how many gigs I have left in me, but I thought I would splurge and buy the CS while I'm still playing live gigs.
Another reason for buying new was the lifetime warranty that comes with the bass for the original owner only. Custom Care even pays the freight both ways if needed. They have paid the freight on mine.
I guess I was expecting more from Custom Care after paying $4,032.00 for a bass.....guess I was wrong.

I'm taking brotherdave's advice.....I won't be going to Vegas anytime soon! :D

UPDATE: FedEx just returned the bass. The driver showed me where the bass was shipped 2 day freight, not next day air.
The custom shop did excellent work on the repairs. I can barely tell anything was done, but only because I know the histoty.
The B & G string tuners are removed and new tuners were in the storage pocket. The old strings are also removed and a new set in the storage pocket as well.

Are you kidding me? Youu should post your issues to all the Forums as a warning to everyone to not go the CS route!

not kidding.....they also shipped it back in the damaged case with extra padding. I was wondering how they would ship it back since they already sent me the new case.
Gotta love "Custom Care".

I've played my new P5 for a couple of weekends at gigs now. It sounds great with the growl present from low to high. I had forgotten what a Pbass sounded like since I haven't played one since 92. I have had to tweak my EQs on my amps some and still probably haven't found the most perfect sweet spot yet. I haven't really had trouble adjusting to the P5 neck because I have been playing a Jazz 5 for years now, but the P neck is notably wider. The bass feels wonderful, sounds great, and I've been congratulated on both the looks and the sound.
