Thanks OX, me too. Jimi inspired, the first time I saw his Olympic White/Maple White PG Strat. That drew from Gibson to Fender.

I almost mentioned the similarity. It is a good looking bass.

It just makes me feel good. I guess it made it easy to change too, since I had the white PG on hand. I like the MIM"s, Arctic White/Maple, White PG's too.

The mod of a new Thinline V shape neck with a birdseye HS cap is done. I pick it up Sunday. It's finished with Danish oil= 22 coats and steel wooled. I've always wanted a V shape neck. I still wonder why no one makes one. If it's a weakness issue that's been taken care of with mine as it has a special bi-flex rod thats mounted in a special way. It's a trade secret the builder won't tell.

BTW the builder just built a triple neck guitar with a six string a twelve string and a bass! It's incredible - it has all kinds of mods and such on it. :D

Blue Flower Pbass RI. Bought in 2004.
I put a '62 Pbass pup in it for better tone.
I also put a '62 style bridge on it for better string/int adjustment.
All electronics were removed and beefed up.
Knobs changed to flat top silver gnarled.
Removed pickguard.

Sounds like my '62 but brighter.
My favorite bass.

You had the body routed for the 62? I put a regular bridge on my Sting. It helped a lot- so I know where you're coming from on the new bridge- I too did the electronics thing - the bass is better now I think. I think the sting is close to the same thing as your "Flower Power".

Question: I want to put a stainless steel / metal pick guard on my CIJ P-Bass. Is this likely to have any impact on the pups?

I think stainless is magnetic- so I'm guessing it could have some pull from the pickups. Why a stainless steel pickguard? Bass not HEAVY enough? In what's left of my mind I'm thinking I wouldn't put a stainless steel pickguard on anything unless I wanted to be the first one ever to do it. What if it rains and you're at an outside gig and a bolt of lightning comes out of the sky and ZAPS you into oblivion? :D OR better yet my friends 100,000 watt Pa gets a short to the stage and you are the one talking on the mic with your hand on the pickguard. OUCH. ANYWAY it probably won't hurt anything -- some electronic wizz needs to chime in on this.

I have pretty good guns so the weight won't be a problem :-)

It is for the look - a shiny pick guard would look good. I could do aluminium if SS is too heavy; I might even put a mirror there!

I changed out the Tort PG to a White Pearl PG. While I was at it, I changed out the bass too.
