I'm not really a bass guy but you should try out lots of basses, and what murdochart said, "the one that play and sounds great to you". Also try jazz basses, they're good also.

None of the Fender basses can sound really bad, it is up to the beholder.

They are icons for a good reason.

Depends on the player :wink: I think the amp also makes a difference in how the bass would sound.
