Fender isn't listing an Am. Std. Precision Candy Cola in the register your bass section. I think the Candy Cola color is gone, at least on the Am. Std. Basses that I saw.

I've never ran across this before. I was doing my initial set up. Double checked the neck and it's straight. The G string saddle bottomed out before I could get it as low as I would like. The same with the B string. Also I moved the B string saddle as far back as I could and it's still sharp at the 12th fret. Not just a little, but alot.
I only have a little bit more room to move the E string saddle back, but I did manage to get the intonation set. The other strings are okay, but still just a little bit higher than I like. I think I could lower them a little bit more, but not much before I start getting some frret buzzing.
Like I said, I've never had this problem before with any bass. I managed to set up my Squier VM V with alot lower action and without any problems. Just wish I could get as good of a sound out of it.
I know I could probably add a shim and get the action lower, but I don't think it would help any with the intonation of the B string.
I'll be calling the store and setiing up a return. Other than this problem I really like the bass. The neck and body are comfortable and I love the sound I get. I haven't given up on the P-bass V. Hopefully they'll have another Candy Cola/Maple that they can replace this one with.

I wonder for which reason Fender sells defective products.

I just got off the phone with my salesman. He of course told me I could take it to any Fender dealer and have them fix it under warranty, but I told him I would rather not purchase a new bass and have warranty repairs performed right off the bat.
He then tried to dicourage me by stating they have a 20% re-stocking fee, but I had printed their return policy and it clearly states the re-stocking may be applied to non-defective returns at their discretion, so the re-stocking fee does not apply to this bass since it's defective.

He's talking it over with his boss now. I told them I am still willing to exchange this bass for one just like it, minus the defect of course. If not then i want a full refund. We'll see how they handle this.
Issues come up everyday. As long as everyone involved works to come up with a satisfactory solution I don't view it as a problem. But I will stand my ground on this issue.

I believe you and chromeface are correct!
I just checked the American Standard Precision V in Fender's bass section and the Candy Cola is no longer listed there. They must have done this in the last day or so because it was listed when oxfan copied and pasted it in his post.

I believe you're correct on the time frame of the possible dropping of the Candy Cola color from the listing. It still shows on the color chart, but that doesn't give any indications for what products the color may be applied to. Mystic Red seems to have taken Candy Cola's place.

Nr. Nylon; The Mystic Red looks nice. Perhaps a little brighter than the Candy Cola. I'm not sure since I haven't seen it in person. The biggest problem for me is the rosewood fingerboard. I am partial to maple.

Just got back home from sending off the Am Stnd P5. They didn't have another one in stock and since it is discontinued they can't order another one. They did mention they may charge the 20% restocking fee. Of course I argued the bass is defective so there should be no charge. It'll be a week or more before they refund my money, so I won't find out til then if they charge me or not. I honestly think there's a slight twist in the neck. The G string was a lot lower than the B, but both saddles were bottomed out.
I'll still get me an Am Stnd P5. I think they are very good basses and I do love the sound. I'll have to decide whether to try another online store that has one in stock in the Candy Cola or go with a second choice color, probably pay a few more dollars and purchase from a local shop. I've already talked with one and they assured me they would do a full set up on the bass and it would play like butter. I've dealt with them before and they are a good shop. They're the ones that looked up the Candy Cola for me and told me it was discontinued.

Is the Mystic Red a metallic finish? The metallic finish is one of the things I like about the Candy Cola, not to mention the hue of the red of the Candy Cola.

The tech at the local shop told me the Mystic Red is metalic. He checked it out to see if there might be an option to get a maple neck. There wasn't.

Yeah the Candy Cola had a dark red/maroon look to it in the house, but wherever the light reflected off of it, man it really shined. In the sunlight it had a much brighter red look to it.

Just looked at an email from the online store where I bought the bass. They said I shouldn't worry about any restocking fee. Hopefully they'll hold to that.

But you're gonna be returning it next week for something else.

This one has no sun light influence. I think the Blizzard Pearl was one of the colors that was effected more by surrounding lighting.
