It was 12' speakers I used back in 1968. I used 12" for a few years before using 15", with an 18 or two thrown in there. Now the 4X10's have the sound with the Ampeg for me. I totally agree with you on personal preference. Everything works, but does it work for that player.

Mr. N, I totally agree on the 10 thing. It pushes enough air for my uses and has a pretty good all around for it to be adequate for my low level uses. Had me a Marshall MB4210 that just was a killer. I miss it. I want my Marshall back :(

You and I were using Marshall MB Series at the same time. You had the MB4210, and I was using the MB4410, until the 450H head in it fried. If I was going to get into a 2X10, I'd be checking out the TC Electronics. Cabs, or combos. They're using birch wood, not Medium Density Fiberboard. One reason I went with the Ampeg.

I just got myself a Fender Bronco 40 to use as a practice amp, it has a 10" speaker but with Fender fuse you can change the speaker size & configuration ( there's 8 modeled amps & 9 stompbox type effects) ......there's also an XLR jack in the back that can be run through a house PA,...I can also run it through my SWR Amplite & SWR 2x10 Goliath Jr cabinet.........you can also record with this amp.....I'm new to it & just scatching the surface.... I'm have fun with this little unit...it's a lot of bang for the buck....

I almost bought a Bronco 40 and that is certainly a fine alternative if you have no desire to jam with a drummer.

Or, if you run a line out into this. :D

I have this exact amp and had issues with it in the beginning, but after doing some reading I have come to really like it (for what is).

What I read is the Orange handles their low/mid/high knobs different then most other companies. When turned fully to the right that is the amps true natural tone, and they work by subtraction - ie try turning all the setting all the way up and see how it sounds then turn down from there. This should give you the more natural tone you are looking for.

Hmmm?? .......interesting I didn't know this,...My local music store is really pushing Mark Bass & Oranage amps & Fender & Ampeg to a lesser degree......... it saddens me to currently see less or no SWR Amps in music stores & no new SWR products being made.....Truely Sad as it's such a good (Fender Distributed) product but that being said the Fender Rumble line & Pro Series are nice sounding amps.

Is it just me or is there something wrong with the site? It's not functioning properly . Posting etc is off kilter or something. Sign in comes up whenever I post -- other odd stuff too.

My tone control poll is messed up too!

Back on topic, this thread has inspired me to check out some Orange amps! Flat being 10 on all the controls makes sense - flat on the Alembic F-2B is 2-10-2, so bass and treble have an active boost while the midrange is cut only.

yeah the site is directing me to log in all the time. Maybe this is the new forums- not sure but it doesn't seem right. I'll come back in a few days. Plus there's some kind of blue outline on everything. I don't think I ever noticed that before. Maybe someone tried to add stuff they don't need and ended up with something not being right. O aky- untill next time adios!! ooooops ! I went off topic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

The Sherlock Holmes side of my brain tells me that the last maint. upgrade/whatever= somebody did it. Call me Mr. Obvious but that's what I think. A severe tongue lashing should be bestowed upon the culprit. Or maybe just NOT.

I think the "blue " borders are new. I clicked on the "keep me logged in" thing and I seem to be back to normality except for the giant black borders. I can't get used to that. It's ruining my day- yes- yes it is...... not. All is good and well ....

I've had issues too. I couldn't even sign on last night, I'd log in and it would say I was, then go right back to login. This is a new program and you have to expect some problems. Outside of that, there were no issues Today and, out side of some sign ins, the site is better than before.

I wonder if some minor problems are keeping people from posting. I's been pretty dead.
