Hi Guys
my first time on the forum..
just after some quick opinions, I'm feeling impulsive after trying out a 1983 Squier Precision
at my local music shop, what do you reckon I should be paying for this , I think its at 799 GBP..

what should i be looking out for? I 'm thinking part ex-ing my Fender Jazz reissue 1962
Any helpful guidance welcome from the Fender-world....

Cheers
Simon

Hi Simon, 700 sovs seems a lot of money for a Squier badged P Bass ! As for the question about how much is it worth ? It would be better to upload good pics of the guitar to get some sort of visual appraisal from the experts Brother Dave, Oxfan etc etc...All the Best Peter

799 GBP = 1280 USD. That is far too high for here by a factor of about 2 to 3 depending on condition. While in Europe Fenders bring more than around here in the southeastern USA, that figure is far too high for any Squier instrument ever made and is more in line with the price of a full blown USA Fender here.

While Japanese Squiers are quite desirable for people who are into Squiers, they are not as desirable in general as a USA made Fender. Fender was still making instruments in Fulleron, California USA in 1983 and these USA made ones bring 850 to about 1300 USD here for the standard issue models. I would much prefer one of those USA mass production models to any Japanese Fender and would prefer a Japanese Fender over a Japanese Squier. (The Fullerton Reissues were being produced in the USA also in 1983 and those bring about twice what the standard issues do.)

I strongly suggest you pass on this Squier instrument. It is grossly overpriced and even at half the asking price it still would not be a bargain to me. 250 GPB would be a price more in line with the actual value.

my 83 usa is about$1000 so an 83 squire in my mind is about $200 tops on a good day with the sun shinning and the stars lined up. Right?
