Thanks for the reminder, 'Ox'...

Too bad that he had to do the huge amounts of alcohol and cocaine to get by. There are other ways to deal with professional stress without having a cardiac arrest due to an over consumption of a controlled substance.

His music and contributions to The Who are legendary as was his huge collection of basses. Here is some information about just a few of them...

Whatever the reason for his excesses, he was the consumate rock star. His entire life was that of one always reaching a little further. While he led the life, he always gave back.

He always made himself available to his fans too.

After his death, daltry wouldn't even participate in "An Ox's Tale". Pete did. That said a lot about Daltry.

Just IMHO, the reason the Who continued on after Keith's death was, John(who was the ultimate rock star in EVERY way) and Roger were broke. They kept on playing to present becausr Pete cared about his friends. He never needed to keep on working, he owned all the rights.

Sorry for my rant.

Hey, Oxfan... If I remember correctly, isn't there a charity foundation that John started many years ago that provides music instruction and some instruments for needy kids?

He was a very caring person. He did a lot of charitable work under the radar.

John Entwhistle was a great bass player, & an early influence when I started playing bass in the late 1970's .........I was fortunate enough to see The Who live in 1980 when I was 16yrs old & then again in 1989..........John had an amazing live sound.....truely a Bass legend...
