Hello everyone. I'm a Brazilian bass student and by the end of the year i'm going to travel to the USA. I had a bass, but then it broke twice... so i won't fix it anymore, it will probally break again...
I am going to Orlando and i am planning to buy a bass for 500 or 600U$ (give or take some dollars), but i have no idea of where or what bass i should buy. So, if anyone has any advices or sugestions of a good bass or where to buy that bass, please let me know

Thx: Sonoda

Are you looking at new or would you consider used? If you don't mind used, you can buy much more Bass for the same amount of money.

Since you are going to be in Orlando, try to stop in here: http://www.basscentral.com/2003/index.php

I have purchased two Basses from them and they are an authorized Fender dealer. Great service, perfect advice, and they will get you a Bass that fits your needs/budget.

Hi
Thx for the answers.
seismic, actually i'm looking for a new bass. And what do u mean with " you can buy much more Bass for the same amount of money"? I didn't quite understand
and since i'm going to Miami, that is a bit far from fern park, there will be no way to stop there. So please, let me know if u know another store.
And i Also wanto know a model (don't know if this is the correct word for a bass) that i sohuld look for, and if there are some fender bass guitars for this price

Thx:Sonoda

A new Bass for about $600 is going to limit you to an entry level Bass. If you buy a used Bass, you can get a better Bass with more features for the same amount of money, due to depreciation. For around $600, you should be able to buy a excellent condition used American Special Precision or Jazz Bass.

Bass Central can deliver it to where ever you are in Orlando easily. Call them and tell them what you are looking for in your price range. They may have something that fits your exact needs.

If you aren't certain what style of Bass you want, stop in at a local music store and handle both the Precision and Jazz styles. One will likely feel better to you. They may even have a used Bass in your price range.

 Very. Is sonoda actually a somewhat misguided Brazilian bass playing youth? Or a troll playing dumb. Knows enough to find and post on Precision sub-forum of the Fender Lounge. Yet knows nothing of Fender's basses. Changes point of entry from Orlando to Miami. Stinky.

Actually i have bass classes since 2010. Since the bass i had broke just now, i had to need to look for another kind of bass. By the time it broke I knew i had to buy another, but had no Idea of which I should buy, since Fender website don't have the bass prices i had to look for help( in this case i looked for in this forum). No, i don't know nothing about fender's bass except there are jazz bass and precision bass( which is the kind i'm looking for). Instead of suspecting, you could give me your opinion.
I'll have another look in this basscentral.

Thx: Sonoda

OK Sonoda,

Go here: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Electric-Ba ... earch=true

Guitar Center has 18 stores in Florida. Prices and selection are good. You can visit and play all the basses they have in your price range. Do look at and play some Squire (by Fender) basses. Very good basses in the $300 range.

Be sure to play through some Fender Rumble Bass Amps too while you're trying out basses!

Whatever you do, have fun and enjoy bass shopping in America! :)

OK Gabriel,

I'll do that in a minute. Just wanted to say that there are also Sam Ash Music stores in both Orlando and Miami. You may want to visit them also. :)

Here's one that has an exellent reputation for quality; playability and sound/tone:
http://www.guitarcenter.com/Squier-Vint ... 1166457.gc
It's a Jazz bass that has a Maple body as well as Maple neck. Maple is a very nice tone wood. The Jazz bass is among the most versitle of all basses.

Here's a good example of a Squire Precision bass:
http://www.guitarcenter.com/Squier-Vint ... 1166456.gc
You should look at and play some Precisions. They are the very backbone of Rock 'n' Roll.

Here are the Made In Mexico Fenders both Jazz and Precision:
http://www.guitarcenter.com/Fender-Stan ... 2032205.gc

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Fender-Stan ... 2032184.gc

I won't even go into the Jaguars; Modern Players, & Blacktops (I like these :) )

It will be a bit overwhelming to see all those basses. The stores may be busy. Take a deep breath and take your time. Try to find the one bass that looks; feels, and sounds best to you. Above all, have fun and enjoy. 8)

There is also a GC in Coconut Creek, and a SA in Margate, in Broward County, north of the Miami area.

"SA" would be Sam Ash.

Thanks for your input, fjbass.

Yes, sorry about that. Sam Ash = SA.

That's OK. SA=Sam Ash. Not South America, and not Smart A-S-S. Like me!
