gotta go for geezer butler and steve harris as they were the bassists that made me wanna pick up this fine instrument.
Also i think cliff williams was very underated but his basslines sounded brilliant against angus and malcolms guitars.

What about Roger Waters and Lemmy Kilminster. I know they don't play anything fancy, but they were (and are) a real inspiration to me.
The Pink Floyd Live in Pompeii DVD was the reason I started playing bass.

I always got a kick out of McCartney's "Silly Love Songs". The song is a anything but a fluff piece of music and Sir Paul's lilcks are really quite progressive.

Let's take the N word out of here. Black or not, not really appropriate.

I voted for "which item doesn't belong?" The only reason I picked Duff is I'm reading the Guns 'N' Roses book right now, so their music is on my mind.
The issue I always have with favorite musicians is the question of "Do I like their playing and do I want to sound like them." I love Rush and Geddy Lee, but don't really want to sound like that.
