Can't vote since none of my three favorite Precision players are on this short list of three. I have respect for all three posted but they are not exactly my personal favorites. I believe McCartney to be one of the best songwriters ever though.

Did you ever think that maybe these people might wind up poking around this forum sometime and see that they came in second or third...or maybe instead they are a really great bassist who was not even listed...and then they would get all depressed until the next ASCAP check comes?

Then they write a hit song about it and zoom to number 1!

Seriously isn't what you did was list YOUR three favorite players looking for validation of your own opiniion?

So when someone becomes famous, he's no longer allowed to be famous for anything else other than he's previous fame. I don't think Flea has ever had/have an attitude "no one better than me" anyways. It's not ok to venture into another career path that he/she is passionate about because then he automatically becomes a non talented person in his other career path. With your way of thinking, nobody can expand their horizon(s) to choose another choice, because if you're good at one thing, that's all you can be good at. Great explanation. Better tell George Foreman he can't sell anything but to keep fighting.

yeh!!! :!:

I didnt say he had the "no one better than me" attitude. Your friend scredshirt said no one was better than him. And yeah with my way of thinking, someone should be known for what they do. Therefore since I see Flea as a cartoon voice, that is what he is to me. And George Foreman was too old to fight, thats why he "expanded his horizon" by selling things.

OK, George Foreman was selling products before he retired the second time around as a fighter. He became the oldest Heavyweight Champ, ever to win the title - again, all the while he was selling product.

Actually, you did say just that:

Thumbs up for Steve Harris! The man that made me pick up the bass. Others on your list deserve their name mentioned too.

Ok, how about equal time for some of the bass playing ladies? Here are just a few that come to mind!

Melissa Auf Der Maur and Kim Deal each influenced lots of bassists. Tina Weymouth too.

Gail Ann Dorsey can sing and play right on the money at the same time and so can Meshell Ndegeocello. Meshell is touring right now and about to leave for the European leg of her tour.

Can't leave out Carol Kaye either because she is the "First Lady of Bass" after all.

Annie Clements works a lot. Tal Wilkenfeld does too.

And for old cats like me, Suzi Quatro was tons of fun to watch in the mid 70's to early 80's and it is not generally known, but she did lots of session work for other artists' projects too. When you watched Ms. Quatro back then she was cool and hot all at once. Of course she's a grandma now so the hotness factor has faded but she would still look reasonably presentable in a black leather outfit. When asked why she chose bass as her instrument, Ms. Quatro once said she liked the vibrations between her legs. Right answer.

I'm a huge fan of Mic Todd of Coheed and Cambria and John Myung of Dream Theater.

(btw, hi fender forums! I'm a proud owner of a new P-bass as of yesterday! Wonderful thing, isn't it?)
