I might be alone in this, but I think Flea is one of the most overrated bass players out there, and I cannot stand the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Larry Graham is my favorite, and he is an amazing bass player. listen to any of the sly and the family stone songs or graham central station songs.

but, i have to disagree with the person who said flea is overrated, he is an excellent bass player who can play many types of music, songs like higher ground or get up and jump show off his funkiness, but other ones like wet sand and californication prove he can play melodic bass lines that fit perfectly with the other instruments.

Matt Wong of Reel Big Fish is another one of my favorites his rock solid bass lines keep the songs flowing.

I thinks he's overrated because of his publicity. I believe that in order to have "no one better than him", he should focus more on his musical career than nickelodeon. The only time you hear about him is when hes on tv. Hes becoming more of a star than a musician.

So when someone becomes famous, he's no longer allowed to be famous for anything else other than he's previous fame. I don't think Flea has ever had/have an attitude "no one better than me" anyways. It's not ok to venture into another career path that he/she is passionate about because then he automatically becomes a non talented person in his other career path. With your way of thinking, nobody can expand their horizon(s) to choose another choice, because if you're good at one thing, that's all you can be good at. Great explanation. Better tell George Foreman he can't sell anything but to keep fighting.

I didnt say he had the "no one better than me" attitude. Your friend scredshirt said no one was better than him. And yeah with my way of thinking, someone should be known for what they do. Therefore since I see Flea as a cartoon voice, that is what he is to me. And George Foreman was too old to fight, thats why he "expanded his horizon" by selling things.
