When attaching a jazz bass neck to a precision body are there any modifications needed at the neckplate area? Does the bridge have to be changed to acommodate the Jazz neck?

Nope. And...nope.

This is true for USA Jazz neck going onto a USA second generation (post 1956) P-Bass body. People have been doing this since the Johnson/Humphrey administration and so far it has worked out just fine. Now if you want to take a 1986 Fender Japan Jazz neck and put that on a 2009 Mexican P-Bass body...let me know how that comes out. I think it will work, but I've never actually done it or seen it done. Where you get into real trouble is trying to put a USA Jazz neck on a USA first generation P-Bass. I have tried that and trust me that is someplace nobody should go again.

As often as this question comes up (about once per fortnight) NOBODY has ever asked about putting a P-Bass neck on a J-Bass. Don't you people have any imagination? LMAO

The Deluxe Active P-Bass Special has a Jazz neck attached into a Precision body.

CBS offered the Precision with an optional Jazz neck having the so-called "A" width.

Well, now that you mention it, i've contemplated getting a Precision neck for my Jazz. The neck on my Precision is so sweet. I do know where there is one from the same line, FSR. I was still purchasing different things and couldn't justify spending the cash.

I do know he donated the bass itself, with a fretless neck, to a good cause. He may have it laying around,

Thanks, Brotherdave. I was 98% sure I'd get a response from you. I appreciate all the responses you've given to bass players in various forums and your website.
