Funny you should mention the Vintage neck spec's on MIJ P Basses & the comparison to the neck on the Steve Harris Bass.......... last night while buying strings I saw a Sting bass & took it for a spin & the first impression I got was the neck on this bass feels similar to the neck on my Steve Harris Bass.. (both are MIJ with chunky necks.....7.25 radius.....however the nut is slightly wider on the Steve Harris Bass)....... the Sting is a nice bass, very solid. :)

Yep, the Sting and the 51RI are the original B width P necks. The Harris would be closer to a 50's and 60's RI C width. All great necks. I love the B width with the full thickness of the early 50's P, but I also have a parts bass that has an MIM P body, US 62RI guts and pups, and an MIJ 62RI neck and it's awesome. One of the best basses I've played. Just built it out of parts I found cheap on ebay. :?

The Harris is definitely on a list of basses I'd like to own, but I'm not crazy about the headstock adjustment. Everything else on that bass is perfect, imo.

Yeah The Steve Harris P Bass is definately worth the investment & the price has come down a bit compared to when I bought mine ( I bought mine in early April 2009 when they were first released) I almost pulled the trigger & bought the Sting Bass I played last night but I've just ordered a MIM Sunburst Reggie Hamilton Jazz bass...(due to arrive in mid October) :)

I'm really torn. My next bass is either going to be a Sting (or a used 51 RI in sunburst), or a Fiesta Red Roadworn P. I love the neck on the early P reissues more, and I LOVE the single coil. I'd love to have the Sting so I could have an SCPB with flats and one with rounds. However, there's something about the Roadworn I once played that haunts me til this day that I didn't buy it. The neck on it felt even more broken in the my real 78 P when I had it. It was to die for. I just can't decide. :?

Yeah I know what you mean with regard to the Road worn........ I played a Fiesta Jazz bass a couple of years ago that felt awesome....actually I've yet to pick up a road worn that hasn't felt good .....they're pretty consistent.....but that being said if I had a choice between the Sting bass & the Road Worn I'd probably lean towards the Sting Bass & put my own history on it.............& in a perfect world fender would issue a Custom shop Road Worn Sting bass ( like the customshop Jaco bass) ......Have you seen how distressed & beat up Stings P Bass is?.......now his bass definately tells a story..... :)

I take all of what I said back. This bass looks awesome. There aren't many Fender basses with a Leo Quan/Seymor Duncan combo.

It looks a lot like my '04 Chrome Red/black pickguard/rosewood fretboard Jazz Bass.

Lots of people have been wanting a NITRO finished bass. Others campaign for another a 7.25" radius neck. Others still want a neck between a traditional P and a traditional J.

I just read the specs on this new artist model. Tah dah! This one has 7.25" radius. It does not use a compound radius at all. This one is nitro finished. This one has a 1.615" nut width. Freaky maybe! But this sounds super cool and has definite potential. So this has the neck radius of the 50's Classic Series P, only with a narrower nut.

Not real crazy about the bridge & the pickup myself. Fender stuff should have Fender parts on it. LOL! Sort of like Chevrolet selling you a car with a Ford engine and a Dodge grill isn't it? But still this thing is an interesting combo of features.

It does sound interesting but i have to agree with you on the pup and bridge. i have a SPB-3 on my Precision, powerful but not Fender.

I want to get my hands on one.

I wouldn't worry about it,......they're taking a break, Dave Grohl has a few side projects on the go (hopefully one of them is a new "Them Crooked Vultures CD with John Paul Jones & Josh Homme... :) ) Geddy Lee recently said the same thing regarding Rush's future plans after the current Clockwork Angel's tour is over......I'll bet we'll hear from the Foo's in late 2014 or in 2015........

I'd give Sweetwater a call. They'll give you the scoop. Good people to deal with.
