I tried to sell my Big Block P-bass to TriCity music, but they wouldn't buy it because of the one p'up.

So I was thinking of actually installing new (different) p'ups to different places on the bass. Can anyone give me any tips on what p'ups are best? And is there any tutorial that shows how to cut and install new pickups?

Thanks,
~Brendon

They wouldn't buy the Big Block because it has one pup? That's...well the stupidest thing I've ever heard. FWIW, I had a Big Block P bass, and that thing would slap the crap out of a Musicman Stingray 7 ways til Sunday. I'm not a big fan of actives, but if you want to fall in love with that bass all over again, try putting a set of Fender Flatwound Bass Strings on it, and play daily for a few months. Switch to pick playing for that bass if you don't play with one already. It'll turn into one of the gnarliest tone monster's you'll ever hear.

I'd recommend against routing it. They are really good basses, if you just can't vibe with it at all, try selling it to some emo kid. They should love it.

I agree with King, especially about possibly routing it. Then you may never sell it. JMO

That's the craziest reason not the buy the BB. Technically it is 2 pups, just like the Pbass technically is 2 pups. Sell it privately then. I've heard the BB, nice fat tone.
