I guess he's talking about an Amer. Standard P-bass? :?

It is the closest thing (IMO) that looks like a 'Strat. Unless it's the deluxe...

:D I have identifyed that the pickgaurd is the same as the one on a classic 51' Prescion bass, but mine is obviously not because it has 3 pickups not just 1.

Thanks for helping me so much heres a way to find your inner peace in thanks

CALMNESS IN OUR LIVES

I am passing this on to you because it definitely works, and we could all use a little more calmness in our lives. By following simple advice heard on the Dr. Phil show, you too can find inner peace. Dr. Phil proclaimed, "The way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you have started and have never finished."
So, I looked around my house to see all the things I started and hadn't finished, and before the morning was over I finished off a bottle of White Zinfandel, a bottle of Bailey's Irish Cream, a package of Oreos, the remainder of my old Prozac prescription, the rest of the cheesecake, some Doritos, and a box of chocolates. You have no idea how freaking good I feel right now. Pass this on to those whom you think might be in need of inner peace.

Do you have any better pics, especially of the body? How about a serial number?

Taking another look, and I'm not 100% certain cause I have a hard time fully seeing with those pics, it looks like a P-bass special from the 90s. Hopefully someone else can confirm or deny that.

That is a tough one, both because of the pictures (had to turn up my monitor's brightness all the way to see everything) and to find in the book I have, "The Fender Bass: An Illustrated History".

The headstock logo looks like what was used in the fifties. I can't find any P-Bass in the book that has the P/J pickups, that style logo, and the fifties style pickguard.

Just going by the style of the control knobs and how they are laid out, I'd have to agree with Zod. It's possibly a P-Bass Special and from the 90s. Definitely an interesting and unique bass if everything on that is original.

I have a blond MIM P bass special just like it, W/active Electronics, Sounds really good but the frets are wore out, The guy I got it from gigged it for about 10-12 years 5-6 nights a week, I had to repair the pots and stem becasue it had got bent, Only payed 200.00 which I think is a killer deal, Looking at putting a aftermarket jazz neck on it w/the maple finger board and black block inlay just to be able to play it out becasue the bass boost and cut is so good. Not really sure if it is a standard jazz neck size at the heel and bolt pattern so that it how I got to this page lookinng for info on the neck heel width to see if it is the same as the jazz. Can anyone comment or help on this issue. Thanks

It looks like a "cowpoke" p-bass. I think they're discontinued now. You might wanna google it.

I did do extensive google search, Did find info on the active EQ and minor other things but no specific specs. What I can find it is built like the standard basses other than the Active EQ and Double Stack Pots that are built into the Deluxe Line of Basses, Can Also find the wiring diagram for the pots and PUPs but no specs on the neck. Guess it would be just as simple to measure the stuff and figure it out that away.

Later
Tom
