I'm looking for a set of flatwound strings to install on my American Standard Precision V. I want to take advantage of the body through bridge design.

Will these Fender 9050-455 Stainless Steel Flatwound strings fit? I noticed that the low B string has a gauge of 125 which is a bit of a concern as i'm use to using a .130 gauge low B.

I've also considered XL Chromes, but the low B string has a gauge of .132 and the E string a gauge of .100 which makes the .132 seem very thick.

Will the Fender 9050-455 flatwounds fit my P5 (body through)?

What other flatwounds are out there with a 45-65-80-105-130 gauge offering that will fit the Precision 5?

Please look at the spec's for the GHS M3050-5 set of flats. I use the 4 string set on all five of my basses and the 5 string set looks to be just right for the parameters that you specified in your post...

Decided to try a set of Fender 90505-M flatwounds on my Precision 5.

String gauges are 45-86-80-105-125. We will see how they fit and sound.

Polished Stainless Flat Wound Bass Strings on Round Core

Hi Beam Flatwound 5 String FL5-45 45 65 85 105 125

I have a four string set that I have not used at this point. Being that they have a round core, they should be pretty flexible. I am not certain they are long enough for a " through the body" set-up. The reason I posted this is because the gauge seems to fit your needs.

You could call them directly to see if the length is adequate. Otherwise, how is the Fender Flat-wounds working out?

Lastly, you have an awesome bass in on your picture; I played one just like it. I also envisioned it with a set of nice flats on it for that super punchy & thick old-school tone. That bass doesn't get any more straight forward than that. One thing about a p-bass, the sound is so balanced from the the G to the E...now the awesome sounding contra B :!:

Unfortunately the Fender 90505M flatwounds haven't arrived yet! It's been about 7 weeks since I ordered them. I have been told that they have been shipped (don't know where from or how) but they are in transist somewhere. If they don't arrive by next week i'm going to cancel my order and buy a set of High Beams.

I'll post an update buy the end of September on the outcome and my opinion of the 90505-M strings if they ever arrive.
