I have never and will never smash any instrument. I really don't see the point. To me, its childish and why ruin a good instrument?

I agree, if the instrument is good then don't waste it. But if it is no longer good and can no longer be made so, then throwing it away or smashing it is pretty much the same thing.

I agree that throwing away is the same as smashing except for the eye protection needed when smashing. CG regularly sends it's employees to the dumpster with guitars they are instructed to smash so no one can dumpster dive for them.

On the same note I have wondered if Tom Cruise is really a girl. I have heard that the public would be astounded by the actors and actresses that are sex change recipiants. I've always thought Carl Malden was one of those.

Saw a guy about 2 yrs ago on LATE SHOW WITH LETTERMAN on the CBS smash a guitar while another band member smashed either a bugle or a trumpet.

So I'm sitting there thinking how many pawn shops he trolled before finding that nifty 60's Teisco hollow body electric and the next thing I knew....WHAM!!! He starts smashing the guitar as simultaneously the trumpet player starts smashing his horn and then, yes, the horn player actually starts stomping on the horn as hard as he can. Before the end of the song the horn is flatter than a credit card and the guitar is destroyed.

I think that was the first smashing of instruments ever on that show. Maybe the last also. It bothered me that these deeply disturbed individuals thought this was cool. It wasn't cool but instead was violent. As mediocre as this act was, the instrument smashing is all I remember about this band instead of the song they played. The band played on while this was going on, proving that the two players smashing their instruments were expendable to the mix anyway.

I'm sure Dr. Freud would have something to say about this guitar and horn smashing, however what it is exactly that he would say I'm not sure. He'd probably prescribe an antidepressant and bump you up to two sessions a week...minimum.

Seeing as Adam Ant is totally relative in todays' music I think I can understand the song not leaving the guys head. The other part I don't get.
