I received this on Wednesday. It is an American Standard with the Mahogany Stained ash body.

I'm not sure how to post pictures (can we post pictures?), so here is a link to my photobucket page with the new bass.

http://s191.photobucket.com/albums/z195/NukeBass/Precision%20Bass/

Out of the box one string was a little flat and that was it. The action is great, the neck is pretty flat and the intonation seems spot on.

It is awesome!

One very lovely P. Nukebass? What's the story behind that name?

It isn't much of a story. It was the name I gave myself when I first signed up for Instant Messanger a bunch of years ago. I was getting my nuclear engineering degree and played bass so the two kind of went together. I've used it ever since.

My only concern with the bass right now is how to take care of the body. I don't know if it is sealed or not since it is a stained bass and not painted. I'm worried the sweat from my arm will start to mess up the wood if it isn't sealed. I've bought some arm bands to help minimize the effect, but the owners manual doesn't say what to put on it to maintain it. I sent Fender an email on the subject and haven't heard back yet.

Beautiful bass, is it worth trying some of the Warrick wax on this?

Keep us updated on this for future ref. :)

oooooo dat's Purrty!!
me again Nukebass!
It has a Satin Lacquer topcoat on it so you should only need the most excellent guitar polish of your choice to keep it shiny and new.
Nice bass.
Best regards,
rob

Hey, Rob. Thanks for your help. I also received an email today from another customer service person with the same info. I can't make any complaints about Fender's customer service :)

I played the bass at church on Sunday (I don't play professionally so this is as close to gigging as it will probably get) and it played great. Everyone loved it and it is nice to have a somewhat unique Precision bass.

Hmm, I just realized the description lists the satin laquer top coat. If I had just paid more attention when I looked at the listing on the website a couple of months ago, I wouldn't have asked the question

NukeBass!
Honestly, it usually takes some gold hardware to catch my eye lol.. I'm glad to hear that its playing as nicely as it looks. Have fun with that!
Cheers,
rob
