What's funny, is Guitar Center has this...I've seen two at two diff GC's...but it's not in their online catalog. Not on the Fender site catalog.....that's weird.

I want.

I have half of what it costs, but knowing my luck....it'll be gone by the time i got plenty. I have a German built Warwick, I need my Fender....then I'm happy.

I think it would be because it is a "FSR Special Run".

How old is that online ad??? hmmmm I'd send them an email to see how current the ad is for the bass....it may already be long gone.

It may be one that was only sold overseas.

It appears to be a current "Fender Special Reserve" bass, the serial number starts with 014 & it comes with the High mass bridge & a gig bag.....I'm pretty sure it's a limited edition Mexican model that was intended for the foriegn market, that being said contact them & try to get some info & what the shipping cost would be............The Website that this bass is on appears to be British as all the items are priced in Pounds.........Shipping from England to the USA would be a little pricey. :)

It's a current advert, I only was using it for the example. No way in hell I'm buying it overseas.
It's a 2012 guys...

I said it's at Guitar Center....

So it's not an overseas specific model.

But there's nothing on the site's catalog, even if it's a special, it should still be listed??

They have (had) one at Guitar Center here in Huntsville AL. It came in a couple of weeks ago, dunno if it's been sold or if they will get another. I looked at it, it's a really pretty bass, didn't get a chance to try it out, though.

It says right in the description that it is a FENDER SPECIAL RUN instrument. FSR's are not standard production models and therefore are never listed at all in the product line on the website.

They are produced in the quantity ordered by the company, or in some cases the international distributor who specifies them. In some cases only the pickguard color or the instrument color is different from the regular production models. In other instances there are more sweeping differences such as body woods, pickup quality, bridges or anything else you can imagine.

For a very long time Guitar Center and Musicians Friend were selling FSR P's and J's that were pretty much identical except for the pickup material.

There was a lovely FSR Fender USA Stratocaster in Fiesta Red with Custom Shop Texas Specials in it and there were only 150 of them made for a small regional retail store chain in the Midwestern USA several years ago. I was lucky enough to find one for my son. It never appeared in the Fender Frontline or on the site.

The minimum run (at least at one time) for a FSR order was 150 units. Other FSR's like ones for the massive GC or MF outlets will be much larger and probably in the thousands. There could also be more than one run of a FSR for a big customer like GC or MF if that particular FSR model sells briskly.

Thanks!
That's why I wanted to see full spec, I want it. I've got a bass fund lol, saving for my next bass. I have a Warwick, a Squier I just need a Fender and I'm good. Only one thing I'll change, It needs a pearloid pickguard to go with that sweet finish. Just hope GC still has one when I got enough saved.

Ultimately I want to spec my own bass there at the factory, someday maybe :P I've spent plenty of time there perusing the visitor's center.

I wouldn't put it off long. If that is the one you really want. It might sell out.
