You're welcome!,

Just a note of interest. Our man thebassopotomus just re-enlisted, in the world we live in, to me that shows remarkable character and dedication.

I'm not buying it that you re-enlisted for the bonus to get the Steve harris bass. :D

Thanks to all those who have served and to those who are serving now.

A most heartfelt thanks to those and their families, who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom.

God Bless America!

Haven't reenlisted yet, will be soon. Paperwork needs filing and such. Give it in the neighborhood of 2 months and yeah, 5 more years will Uncle Sam own.

My roommates sister (pregnant) and husband are stationed above Fukushima. Pray for them please.

If the military allowed a pregnant wife to stay, they're far out of the danger zone. The military is PARANOID about pregnant women getting any kind of exposure. I am not sitting here as a mouthpiece for the government, I usually disagree with most of what they do.

Recently discharged to pursue her own dreams, she became pregnant there and obviously refuses to leave the side of her husband in the face of one of the greatest adversities facing mankind -- an extinction level event if reactor 4 collapses.

Talk about true love.

pray my brothers and sisters, pray.

Alright, seriously, I hate to soapbox, but I really need to dispel some myths and bullshiz.

I am a nuclear engineer. I'm telling you, if they are allowed to stay where they are, it's cool. Trust not the media when it comes to nuclear power. I tell you this because I DESPISE the fear-mongering that pervades the general public's education of nuclear power. She, as a pregnant woman, would have been HUSTLED out of there if it was a true problem. The government's solution to anything that is or may be a problem with the military members (and their families) overseas is to move them. They're fine. The levels that they may be exposed to are well within the limits that the federal regulations allow. You probably receive more in one flight then they have been living where they do. Please, when reading about and hearing about anything nuclear related, take it with a half shaker of salt. The media loves to play reactors as bombs waiting to happen. Their geometry makes a possibility of an atomic explosion near impossible. The geometry needed in the fuel for a reactor to sustain a controllable reaction is so far removed from that needed for the uncontrolled reaction that creates what flattened Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Please, PLEASE use common sense when listening to anything the media craps out to us when it relates to the world of nuclear power.

Soapbox complete, i'm going to go have a stiff drink.

Thanks for the rant, you're the only nuclear engineer I know so, I'll take your word for it. The true dangers of the world are corn syrup anf fracking.

Okay!

Three questions:

1. Should we trust the media when it comes to using cannabis as a world-wide fuel (Obama laughs at cannabis for fuel and the media seems to be perpetuating Obama's folly about cannabis)?

2. In your professional opinion, what's the safest alternative to nuclear power known to man?

3. Shouldn't a safer alternative to nuclear power be used before ever resorting to nuclear power first due to the known dangers (cancer, mass destruction, extinction level events) of radiation?

When you sober up, please reply!
