Hi Bruno and welcome to the forum.

The serial will usually tell you the model year on a mass production instrument. It won't tell you anything else so far as I know. However in the neck pocket or under the pickup you should find a sticker with a code on it. That might tell you more than the year and may have a color code, or it may not. On Vintage series instruments, which have a serial starting with "V", the serial doesn't even tell you the year and you have to look at the date code on the butt of the neck.

You can date the pots by the pot codes. Basically, serial, pot codes and neck butt stampings/markings are the best dating hallmarks.

Your neck should also have a date code on the neck butt too, however most people are not anxious to remove the neck so it is understandable if you don't want to do that. Often there are shims placed there and I'd rather not disturb them.
