I have looked at other posts, but I can not find my base, or a source that has mine. the base is red, candy apple finish. it says "Squier Precision Bass Standard Series" on the front. On the back the only writing says, "Crafted in Indonesia SN IC001015733". There is no other writhing on the bass, it has 5 strings.

will someone please, help me find the year, model, and price of the Bass.
-Thanks

All of your requests can be found simply by doing a google search.

I would help, but you can't even spell bass correctly and I find that unacceptable.

I'm sorry, but there is no way that you did a google search. I googled "Squier precision bass 5 string" and found all the answers that you ask.
Heck, there is even a club for them on TalkBass.

Dave Bass Fan Boy, It seems you've already received a welcome of an unpleasant sort.
Please allow me to welcome you to the forum in the manner in which you should have been welcomed.

The responses posted in this thread are very out of character for this forum and frankly personally I'm more than a bit disappointed in how you were treated. Usually newbies are welcomed here in a far more kind fashion and usually there is no such thing as a stupid question here.

When reading this thread it was almost like reading one on TalkBass.com, where one expects to see this sort of attitude. That is why I don't hardly ever visit talkbass.

Part of the reason for the lack of useful responses is that full blown Fender models and Squier models are very different instruments and this part of the forum is for the full blown Fenders. Squiers are not actually made by Fender, but by outside contractors and then Squiers are marketed by a separate division of Fender. Therefore information is very different between real Fenders and their Squier cousins.

I am no Squier expert, but will attempt to answer your questions as best I can.

This instrument's serial decodes that was made in Indonesia (I) at the CORT (C) plant in Indonesia in the model year 2000 (00). The 2000 model year would run July 1, 2000 until June 30, 2001. The fact there is no "S" in the serial after "IC" means it is not a special run and is in fact a stock mass production Standard model made at the main Indonesian Cort facility. All the Indonesian special run instruments (ICS serials) are far more limited and were manufactured at Cor-Tek, which is not the same as Cort. Squier has contracted at least three manufacturing plants in Indonesia during various times. This includes Cort, Cor-Tek and Samick. ("IS" serials denote Samick.) There could be other manufacturing contractors, but those three are all that I know about. Of these three outsourcing suppliers, the Cort company is one of the most experienced, but they are all of reasonable competence with Samick for example successfully marketing their own line of instruments for many years.

Country of origin only seems to matter a great deal to value to a Squier if the country is Japan. Country of origin matters slightly less if Korea and then come all the rest. The Standard model is superior to the Affinity model but somewhat inferior to today's higher end Squiers such as the Vintage Vibe and Vintage Modified series.

As to value, that is always significantly tied to condition of the instrument no matter the brand and without an in person evaluation, or at least clearer photos, this is a very difficult if not impossible question with many pitfalls. Firstly, I'm in the southeastern USA and prices could be higher or lower based on your geographic location and local market conditions. Secondly, Squiers are very often modified with parts "upgrades" or have stickers applied by their owners and my estimates are for totally stock instruments. Owner applied modifications can actually hurt value. Figure on the low end $50 to $75 here if it has some serious issues and on the high end you can expect probably no more than $175 here if in tip-top shape and ready to play. This is all of course dependent upon the ability to find an eager buyer. With wear, etc...but if still in playable condition it would fall somewhere in-between. These values are for a private party (person to person) sale. You will get far less than that (about 50% less) if selling outright to a dealer who will resell it. Again I am no expert on Squier instruments, those people are probably lurking in the Squier Bass section of this forum, but that seems to be the going rate for a 5 string Squier Standard made in Indonesia around here. They are not very valuable I'm afraid.

Finally, there is a completely different forum listed on the main forum menu for SQUIER BASSES. I would suggest posting your inquiry there as people in the Squier Bass forum know far more about Squier models than us here in the Fender Bass forum. Just scroll down the list on the BOARD INDEX until you find the SQUIER BASS FORUM.

I hope what limited information I have been able to provide is some of what you needed to know. Good luck with it.
