Always loved these Foto Flame P-Basses. Came close to buying one at a point. Congrats on the new bass, enjoy it and know that you have something rare!

Also, I saw one of these in this exact same finish scheme on eBay not too long ago, and some of the cracks in the finish that you see in the first pic look a bit familiar, haha. That's just me though.

P.S., I never understood what the Hamburglers are.

The Hamburglar is a fictional character created by the McDonald's corporation to market their product to children. The Hamburglar was the villain in television commercials and other media featuring Ronald McDonald as the hero. In other countries the same characters may have had different names. Here is the Hamburglar image used by McDonald's.

Somewhere on all the photoflame instruments you can find at least one image that appears to bear a remote likeness to the Hamburglar's facial features and expression. It moves around from model to model, but on each model it appears in just about exactly the same place. I don't know if Fender intended that or not, or if it was an inside joke at Fujigen.

Here is the Hamburglar grain circled on a Fender photoflame neck. On some models they appeared on the top between the bridge and pickup, others on the back or on the neck and the size varies but this exact pattern is somewhere on every Fender fotoflame model.

Just for the record, The Hamburglar is NOT a fictional character, he lives in Florida very close to the original McDonald's. To this day he still stops in every day for lunch.

(Gees brother Dave, shoot Santa Claus and run over the Easter Bunny too! You want to break Strover Vance's heart?)

Oh, sorry. Sure looks like a fiberglass head to me.

I suppose THIS guy is real too?

The necks are more of a vintage C shape which means thicker, but not really wider. Not all that much thicker though.

Interesting...I'd heard of the Foto-Flame P's, but didn't know much about them.

Now...I know.
