My sunburst P Bass is serial #333657. I think it's 1970, but I'm not sure. It's well worn from my years of playing blues, rock and gospel. It has a new fret job by a reputable dealer, otherwise it's straight stock. Any idea what it's worth ?

Sorry but there is not enough information for me to give any sort of estimate. Also photos or links to photos would be required for that. Even then it would only be my opinion for what it MIGHT be worth here and no guarantee of what it is worth there which could be more or less. The first thing to do is to find out for sure what you have. There should be a date code stamping on the heel of the neck and pot codes to read as well.

This is a bit like someone writing in that they have a what they think is a 1970 Chevy Corvette and asking how much it is worth. It could be a little or it could be a lot depending on a multitude of variables many of which only an in person inspection and perhaps a test drive would reveal. Hope that analogy helps.

Your serial number suggests that this bass was built in 1972 at the Fullerton Shop. CBS era. I would think your bass would fetch somewhere between $2000-3000. Maybe more. Honestly, it is worth what the market will bear. Good luck. Check ebay for some comparables.

Actually around here the vintage dealer asking range for a 1972 that plays would be more like $1,400 to as much as $6,000. Where it falls in there is anyone's guess without photos or more data to verify what is original and what isn't or even what year it actually is.

If not I guess I need to be informed how to send a pic...

You have to first upload photos to somewhere like Photobucket.com and then use the IMG tag on the toolbar above the box where you compose your post and then insert the direct link to the photos within the image tag in order for the photos to display here. Hit PREVIEW to make sure they are displaying before hitting SUBMIT.
