Yeah, copper metallic burst is indeed a limited-edition color. It was offered for a short period on the MIM Standards in 2011. Fender retired this option in January 1, 2012.

I bought a Telecaster in the copperburst when they came out. I liked it so much I bought a P-Bass in copperburst a few weeks later. A week after that, I snagged a copperburst Tele body off eBay to make into an Esquire.

It's kinda subtle - not flashy. There is just the right amount of metallic fleck in the paint to give it it's look.

A black pickguard totally changes the look. It looks much better than with the white guard. I've got the Esquire and Tele set up that way. I haven't got to the P-Bass yet, but I will.

So, yeah, I guess I like it! :D

And yes, it was a limited edition color.

Surely those Copper Metallic Bursts would look fantastic with a 1-ply matte black guard and a maple neck! :P

Copperburst is hard to photograph.

Mark Wong is one of the best guitar photographers in the country and he couldn't get a good representation of his. <(link)

There are actually 2 different copperburst variations that Fender put out last year.

1st is the pattern above that SKcoppertele has. As far as I've seen, that pattern was only released on Telecasters.

2nd is a darker, more subtle burst, like on this strat from Sweetwater (this is the copperburst that I have on my Telecaster and PBass). Fender released this pattern on Strats, Teles, P and Jass Bass.

both I think, are nice looking 'bursts.

Does the darker copperburst have more metal flake than the lighter tele?
