Do you mean they were installed on an angle into the body? That can be fixed of course. I guess you would re-drill the holes after they would be filled with a dowel . I would call it not good quality control on Fens side of the deal.

Yes they were drilled on an angle, just this one screw is so crooked you can actually look into the hole and see the threads of the screw =\ Well, if its a manufacturer flaw, would the store fix it for me?

You bought it brand new that way?

I can not understand how such a serious flaw would get past inspectors. I'm wondering if something else happened in shipping or if someone swapped something out on it.

That is very abnormal. If not covered under warranty I'd be very surprised. The dealer is your first contact for that. I probably would insist on an exchange for another one. If relatively simple guard screws are boogered up that bad, no telling what else is also not quite right.

there is NO way this could have happened during shipping, it is whoever drilled the holes. It all looks hand done to me. One of them is very bad and the other is moderately bad aside from those 2 pickguard screws, all the other screws seem to be relatively straight in. I cannot exchange for another one because this is the only new one they had within the company. Which is like 50 stores canada wide. But the bass plays and sounds nice, apart from those screws I would say it is perfect. I have OCD so its kind of hard for me to let go of these issues, if theres any problem with my bass I will keep staring and checking that problem over and over and it never stops. It drives me crazy. But like has anyone else had these kinds of issues with an american fender bass?

I agree with the others, take it back. Maybe they can fix it for you at the store.

Glad to hear the bass looks and plays good. Post some pics if you can.

I think that maybe someone may have put a pickguard on it that is not original. I can't tell you how many times I've dealt with aftermarket and even Fender guards that do not line up with the holes in the bass--- SO the tendency is for the screw to go in kind of sideways. ALSO PICTURES would help AND take off the guard and you should be able to tell something by doing that.

The guard im pretty sure is the right one because it still has the plastic on it and it has the heel cutout hole for the truss rod.. Its just like someone jammed the screw in at an angle..

Definitely take it back and have them make it right. Or find someone who can fix it for you. It is a really simple fix.

Well, i took it in and the dumb employee FORCED every screw in overtightening and kind of made it worse.
Then he was taking the plastic off the pickguard for me and the he scratched the pick guard pretty bad. So.... really bad day for me Anyway, i paid 1199$ for this bass but they ordered me a 2012 p bass which is $1349 and giving me a straight replacement.

Does anyone have any experiences with the new 2012 american standard fender P's?
