Hello all,

S'been a while. I have a question about the Fender High Mass Vintage bridge. I've been looking at upgrading the bridge on my Standard P and would love to go to a Fender bridge, but all the HMV's I've seen are 3 hole mount. Does it not come in 5 hole?

Also, looking to replace the double-Jazz style humbucker in my off-brand with a P-J combo. Any ideas on where to find those? Being out here in Guam kind of kills my connection with the force.

I'm not aware of one. They have been using Leo Quan BAII's. I'm not partial to them myself, but they fit.

You may want to check out a Gotoh 201B-4 Fender replacement bridge.

Worth Checking out. :)

The Gotoh is looking like a top finisher in this one. Had one in my possession that I sold right when the newest batch of BAII's came out. Unfortunately I was unable to grab one.

I like the Gotoh 201B-4 & though I do have BADASS II Bridges on 2 of my Jazz Basses & 1 Precision Bass I'm turned off with their lack of Customer service & the inavailability to get bridge parts(they're always sold out) & lets not forget the inflated price.....the Japanese made Gotoh201B-4 Bridge is on par with the Leo Quan BADASS II at half the price. In my opinion :)

The severe lack of available bridges just kind of disgusts me. If they're hand made by one dude with the secret power, cool. But that's not the case, otherwise they'd be outta my hobbyist's price range. Cheap BS ploy to soak our wallets.

Yes it's pretty disgusting....... I've been looking around for a while for an alternative replacement bridge & also an alternative to Leo Quan's BADASS II bridge & even though I also considered Schaller & Hipshot as options....it was the Gotoh 201B-4 that won out!
it's a quick drop in replacement bridge & even better ....the saddles are notched & ready to go.

I've done some more research on this. There is a new FENDER high mass bridge coming out in April on the re-spec'd American Standard basses. It will take a while after that for the parts outlets to begin stocking the new bridges. Yes the Gotoh is a suitable and logical alternative.

Hey Dave are you saying the American Special line of basses are getting a complete overhaul ??? Hmmmm can't wait to see what Fender's done to this line, I'd imagine they're going to stick with the Grease bucket.

"There is a new FENDER high mass bridge coming out in April on the re-spec'd American Standard basses." - BrotherDave.

Since he mentioned the MIA Standard, one would have to take it as the American Standard and not the Am.Special.

Again, BD comes back with the uppercut to make sure the knowledge knockout is complete. Thanks for more info, well-seasoned gent.
