My MIJ/MIM Fender Precision is quickly becoming my go to bass I love it. My question is the neck is from a '08 MIM Precision now the neck feels big in my hand yet comfortable at the same time.

I don't know a lot about Fender necks so was the '08 necks based on any particular Precision i.e 60's,70's etc. I would like to post a picture of 2 of my battered Precision mongrel, I've just got to find a way.

Thanks :D

It is a C shape, common since the 60's but has gone through slimming, fattening, flattening and progressive radius mods on different models. You have a modernized C shape that is the natural evolution of the original C shape (derived from the U-shape) which was thicker with wider shoulders than we have now.

There is a great informative article about Fender neck shapes, widths and the changes in them here: http://www.fender.com/news/index.php?display_article=422

The vintage reissue necks like a 60's C neck or 50's U could be ordered on a Custom Shop instrument but isn't available on any production instrument.

To learn how to post photos visit the last section of the page in this link on my website: http://brotherdave.com/add_comm.htm and follow instructions there.

That decal is not correct for an 08 MIM Standard P-Bass neck. Did you change it? The position is wrong and it should have the serial under FENDER on a 2008 Standard P-Bass.

Yes I changed the decal I always liked the big '70's version, how much is it out of position? Here is a picture of the original decal.Image

Hello brotherdave ,looking at your picture I see where mine went a little wrong. My friend who put mine on like your picture lined up the F with the string retainer. On your pic the string tree is just to the side of the A string,on my MIM it looks dead centre I may get this re done.Image
