Seems that for a few hours Musicians Friend dot com had the Fender Standard P-Bass listed as "DISCONTINUED." It said, "Used ones may be available." I got an email about this and checked it out and found it did in fact say they were discontinued. That was at about 5 AM EST. I just looked again 4.5 hrs later and poof they are magically re-continued. That is strange. Anyone know anything about this? Maybe just a temporary computer glitch? Or perhaps was it something more sinister?

@brotherdave

The Standard P is listed in the products page.

@Chromeface. I was taking about Musicians Friend Dot Com, not Fender's site. I know how to look them up on here. LOL.

I know brotherdave & chromeface are aware.

As a general rule for consumers I have found some of the large corporate stores will either post or tell you in person a product is discontinued, even if this not the case. Many years ago a store said the Porta-Bass 800 bass head was discontinued. Eventually Ampeg did discontinue the head, but this fallacy wasn't to long after the amplifier hit the market. It just was that particular store wasn't carrying that product, so they it was B.S.

Hey Dave, back in late January (of this year) I was browsing the Musicians Friend website & it listed the Tony Franklin fretted P-Bass as discontinued but used models may be available.......so out of curiousity I went to the Sam Ash website & it was also listed as discontinued,....I thought this was strange as Fender still had (& has) it listed on it's website.

I sent Fender a quick message inquiring if it was indeed discontinued & I was told it's still in production with no immediate plans to discontinue it.........strange? :?

I believe most websites would assume that if no new models were delivered at a specific time. I don't see Fender discontinuing the Standard MiM model. From what I've seen, its pretty successful and I love mine, so I am a little biased.
